stevasaurus 23,281 #2 Posted February 13, 2019 Starter/Generator belt Original Wheel Horse 1583 nla Used on 6, 7, 8hp Kohler Starter generator {3Lx33" in belt charts is 3/8" x 33" but some applications use a shorter belt. Belt should have raw rubber sides for grip.} 3V315 Gates .38"x31.5" 3V315 Napa .38"x31.5" You can find this information in the "Manual's" section. rmaynard 16,299 #4 Posted February 13, 2019 (edited) Make sure that the belt is not too long. Even though the starter/generator is adjustable, too long of a belt will cause it and the pulley to rub against the belt cover. Let me check my records and see what size I have on mine. The belts on my 701 are 4L310, and there is not much clearance at the small end of the before cover. Kagnew66 15 #7 Posted February 15, 2019 Thanks. I have an engine which came with a 702, and the Gates 3V315 looks like it will fit that fine. The 701, however, has dual pulleys, which are wider (1/2 in.). The belt that's on it is too long to adjust properly. You guys have bailed me out. ***Note : I did try to find some information in the manuals. But frankly, this kind of help is not available in a manual. I appreciate it.
