520H Muffler

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone knows the brand/model # of the muffler(no pipes) for the 520H?

Mine is junk and I would like to fab a new exhaust system using the original pipes and a new muffler.

Thanks,

The exhaust system is made by Nelson and it is one piece.  I can get you a part number tomorrow but I doubt you will find a new one.  The price was extremely high when they were available.

That would be great! The curved tip rusted off of mine too which sends exhaust into the hood/engine area. Not a good thing by far!

I may look into fabricating a stack setup like Horsefixer. A widely available muffler from what I understand.

Thanks again!

I checked the number stamped on my muffler and it was 325.  Apparently new mufflers, part # 116471, are still available for only $853.85.  If it is only the tip that is bad, perhaps an exhaust shop can weld on a new one.  It is my understanding that 16HP and up Performer Series engines have the same muffler and you might want to check the famous auction site.  The 520HC and smaller Onan powered tractors may have mufflers without the extra tabs for the fancy stainless steel guard.  Before installing a used muffler, glass bead all the rust off and paint it with Rustoleum High Temperature paint.

What a bargain! Only $853!🤑

I will check out the auction and I can rig weld a new tip on in the meantime.

Thanks a million for the info!
