Rebuild

Hi All Im looking for help on what motor i have to buy a rebuild kit for the motor,im sure the rings are on there last legs it will not start in really cold weather or get any power out of the motor,i have done the wiring for the most part just need to get head lights working again but need motor frist

Your engine is a Kohler K-241, but don't buy any parts until it has been torn down and measured by an engine machine shop. They will measure the block and crank for you (most will do it for free) and let you know what needs to be done. Ask them what parts will cost and compare that to what you can buy them for. Some shops have good quality kits that are reasonably priced.

i am a tool and die maker i can measure the all that will be needed and or machine if it needs to be done, but i will be asking  for some help im sure i now have all the teck and numbers i need linkage http://resources.kohler.com/power/kohler/enginesUS/pdf/tp_2379.pdf

have you gone through the basics before you dump a bunch of money into it., new plug, points, coil, condenser, decarbon the head, etc....

those kohlers are pretty bullet proof,

i know a local shop here was an ex WH dealer he has bought dozen or more rebuild kits for the k series  from i save tractors already and was very happy with them

Here is a thread done on a slightly smaller Kohler, all the information is applicable to your engine.

I did the wireing and need to do the fuel system but i can tell its low compression so i want to do the rebuild so it can last another 55 years, no i did not do the points yet or decarbon the head thats comming

The most accurate diagnostic test of an engine's condition is a leak down test. It will let you know what componants are contributin to the loss of compression.
