I installed new tri-rib tires onto the fronts of my Simplicity 9020 they handle great and I find the steering effortless. The ribbed tires also have a higher profile than the wider front tires that came with an Allis 720 that I had added t my collection of old tractor. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

timo4352 147 #6 Posted January 25, 2019 I have 4.00 x 8 tri ribs on my 310-8. A step up from the 6 inch wheels. No fluid filled. I do have about 25 pounds of steel tucked up inside the frame in front. I run the stock narrower turf tires 22 x 7.50 x 12 in the rear with WH plastic weights and chains. pics soon Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Lee1977 7,232 #9 Posted January 25, 2019 (edited) The 400 x 8 works better on a 3 or 4" wide wheel. I used Wheel Horse trailer wheels, but we had to chuck them in the lathe and cut 3/4" of the hub to get them to fit. timo4352 147 #11 Posted January 25, 2019 My wheels are really narrow -- like 2-1/2 or 2-3/4...I kinda forget which. IFRC they came off a Gravely snowblower, maybe? You will see when I get those pics up... I think the tires look just right on the narrow wheel. But a wheelbarrow wheel could work. Think they are more in the 3 to 4 inch range though. wallfish 18,244 #12 Posted January 25, 2019 Poor man's tri rib is wrapping #40 roller chain around the front tires. Install them tight around the center on a deflated tire, add air to tighten them up. Deflate again to remove if needed. timo4352 147 #13 Posted January 25, 2019 When I got my tri ribs on ebay they were 26 bucks for a pair - yes 13 bucks each. I could not believe it, and jumped on the deal.
