wfrpalm 218 #1 Posted January 21, 2019 What does the jet on the bottom of the float bowl do?
pfrederi 18,553 #2 Posted January 21, 2019 (edited) Are you talking about the adjustable jet on a Tecumseh carb.. Some Techys have a drain there as well. They external on the bottom. Most Kolhers have a plug on the bottom and a high speed needle from the top Walbros have a fixed jet near the bottom but inside. What carb are you talking about. wfrpalm 218 #3 Posted January 21, 2019 Yes I do mean the carb on a Techumseh. My tractor kept stalling out when on the side of a hill and when I took the carb off that jet was partially clogged. I thought the float had gas in it but it was fine.
pfrederi 18,553 #4 Posted January 21, 2019 That is the equivalent of the high speed needle on a Kohler carb. If it is blocked gas cannot be drawn up to the carb venturi. That it is acting up on hills i would check the float setting, there may not be enough gas in the bowl an she is sucking air on hills The correct float setting for Techys can vary depending on the type of float valve seat and if you have a fuel pump or not. . Initial setting for main power needle (the one you are talking about is 1 turn .
