I went to visit with Steve (wh500special) today and pick up a few goodies...

Brace yourself, my whole family thinks they're HIDIOUS... But my dad and I think they are BEAUTIFUL...

First off, the 550. This thing is COMPLETE... It is amazing how un-messed with this thing is.

It even has a "shusher" muffler on it... I hear these things sound GREAT. I have a buddy that loves them and wants one on all of his tractors.... He's not getting this one....

All of the guards are there, except for the fuse cover. The wheels are TRASH. totally rotted out. I'm going to put a good set of wheels on it and go from there.

And, the 551...

It has some serious transmission problems... (locked up and won't shift or roll without one wheel off the ground)

I think it was somebody's "go cart" at one time... I found this REALLY cool Wynn's sticker when dad and I were checking them out...

I'm probably going to take this one and the 401 carcas that I have and make one. I have a EXCELLENT running k91 that will go on it. Although, If I can get the transmission free'd up, I may just put the k91 on it the way it is... :omg:

Have to like the ones that are untouched :omg: , you might check the brake to see if it is froze up, I've had a few that I freed the brake, and what do you know they roll with all four tires on the ground.

Jon,

Great to see you again today! Stop by anytime!

Just so everybody here knows you're not exaggerating about the wheels being a "bit" questionable, here's a pic of the right rear from the 550 while it was sitting in the bed of my truck:

Nothing a little elbow grease and Bondo can't fix! :omg:

Have fun with them!

Steve

I think a little more than bondo is needed to fix that  . If you take the set screw out, and pull out the shifter stick, look in the hole. The shift forks should form a "hollow square" in the middle. Then you would know if you're in nutral or not. Alot of times the ball falls out, and you'll be locked up in the gears. It's worth a look. :omg:

My wife is AWESOME!!!

She just bought me this...

On e-bay, for the 551 "Super Suburban" project...

I now have just about all the parts for it. K141, 8-speed transmission, 23x10.50 AGs with CC weights. Now, I just need to find ONE (1) 1-1/8" hub.

I need to get all of my other projects done so I can get started... :omg:
