food for thought

I got a wheel horse(which is what I have been wanting for years) and want some thoughts on whether I should keep or sell for another. All I want to do with it is mow, and snow blow, although toro's site doesnt have a snow blower for it , any opinions on this tractor?

Based on his other post I believe it is a 211 5 speed.

TGordon....in the future....you can keep your questions

with your original post. Unless you change topics of course.

And this is just follow up questions on the same subject.

I believe that your tractor is one of the smaller modern

wheel horses. Kind of like my A-800 Ranger. It had

limitations when it came to attachments. I know there

was no snowblower designed for it, but believe there

was a plow. And a vertical engine (which yours is)

is more difficult to find a plow for. Not impossible..

but a little more difficult.

Keep your tractor.....and shoot for another. Try to

get something with a horizontal shaft engine (more

attachment possabilities) in the 10 to 16 hp range

(kohler motor). There are a lot of them out there.

You can even find the older wheel horses that were

6 and 8 hp that could handle a small blower.

What your looking for depends a lot on how much

grass you have to mow....how much snow you

have to blow. A nice all around tractors are the

B-80 (8hp) B-100 (10hp) C-81 (8 hp) C-100 (10hp)

C-120 & 121 (12 hp) C-160 &161 (16hp).

Then the BIG wheel horses.... the D-series for

more serious, heavy duty work... D-160, 180, 200 & 250

As well as C-195. All big engines and heavy weights.

These had more specific attachments mostly suited for

only these tractors. (with very few exceptions).

Almost all the attachments (first tractors mentioned) can

come off one tractor and go right on another.

For example you can take a 36" deck off of a B-80 and

put it right on the C-160or C-161. But the bigger C was

capable of running a bigger deck because of the bigger hp.

Snow blowers and other attachments could be used on either

as well. But the larger deck like a 48" deck was not recommended

for the smaller engines as it would tend to bog down

the smaller hp motors. And in my opinion would put an

unecessary strain on the small motor and it's components

life expectancy.

Any of those first ones I mentioned come with lots of

attachments to choose from. B-80 for small acreage

and easier on gas to the C-160 for more heavy work

with a little more consumption on gas.

Only you can decide what would be best for your

situation.

Good luck....let us know what you find.
