Teddy da Bear 11 #1 Posted March 19, 2009 Earlier this week I got a free wheel horse sickle bar mower. Today a friend of mine gave me a B-145 electric wheel horse. It is in rough, restorable shape.... But I thought it a good idea to accept it for the parts it contains. Too dark now for pics...... Sorry... I will try to get some up tomarow. WHC-125 4 #5 Posted March 19, 2009 Their was one of those for sale the in the next town over from me but it needed a little work (In Bethany). Are they any good? And sounds like you got a great deal
Buzz 502 #6 Posted March 19, 2009 Good for you, with the problems you've had you deserve it. If you decide to work on the B-145 be sure to drain out all of the old stale electricity before working on it or else it might clog up the framostat . Just don't pour it down the drain, water and electricity don't mix........ and that's the truth.
Teddy da Bear 11 #7 Posted March 19, 2009 You guys are hilarious! WHC......from what I have heard....they are delicate creatures... They have their problems and particularly in the gearbox. Pictures and posts are in the attachments section. (sickle bar mower). If I was mistaken and you were wondering about the B-145..... They are a great tractor. Can mow up to 1 1/2 acres on a full charge. but that might be a bit optimistic. Has a forward mounted mower deck so you can go under bushes with ease as well as see the deck easily. Bad thing is cost of deep cell batteries. Can cost anywhere from $100 to $125 apeice and it does use 6 batteries. Yes.....electricity has longggggg ago left this tractor.... Unless it was hit by lightning! It spent a lot of time outdoors....lol Buzz......from your technical lingo... I would say your a "Three Stooges Fan" And on another good note! Wife is well enough to go back to work tomarow! I will revive that post in the non tractor section to let everyone know.... woooo hoooo!
HorseFixer 2,012 #8 Posted March 19, 2009 Good Find Mike! Glad yer wife is doing better!
Coadster32 793 #9 Posted March 19, 2009 The sun will come out..tomorrow. Bet you bottom dollar that...... Great news on the tractor, and the wife.
Teddy da Bear 11 #10 Posted March 19, 2009 Here are pictures of the latest freebie. It is not much to look at.....but loaded with near impossible to find parts.
kj4kicks 151 #11 Posted March 19, 2009 ... impossible to find parts. How many people are actually looking? 3 or 4 maybe? I don't think there are too many collectors for that model. Have fun with it...
Teddy da Bear 11 #12 Posted March 19, 2009 Actually at the few shows I have taken my complete one to. Many people commented that they had never seen one and did not know wheel horse made one (yes I know the elec trak story).
Rollerman 290 #13 Posted March 19, 2009 Hey I'd take a B165 electric if I found a decent one. Most I've seen were pretty far gone though..metal & battery acid..add years of sitting out in the open and you end up with a mess. There are a few menonites west of me that still use them for there greenhouses & pay top dollar for them at the auctions.
Teddy da Bear 11 #14 Posted March 19, 2009 Yes Stephen and you were kind enough to send me a pm last year about them. I am not sure it was you that told me about a big following of the amish/mennonite community out in Pennsylvania where a gentleman had quite a supply of them. But is that a b-165 or did you mean a B-185?? I thought the B-185 was the electric. My friend's elec trac I-5 is the fastest garden tractor I have ever seen. I think he has a video of it. Really jaw dropping.... (I should say fastest "stock" garden tractor) I'll see if I can find it and post it in "other tractors" sometime.
JimD 3,345 #15 Posted March 19, 2009 hi tdb, wow, a freebie! have a good time with that one. hope you restore it. i'd like to see it in action.
d180man 5 #16 Posted March 19, 2009 Hi tdb free is free! but when it has wheelhorse on is the best free ones!
Teddy da Bear 11 #17 Posted March 19, 2009 Hey Fan....yeah it would be nice to restore, but it is badly rusted out. The battery acid and weather has eaten through most of the bottom and even into the frame. It could be done, but far too much effort. It will be dissassembled and stored. Yes D-180....."free" plus "wheel horse" cannot be beat... Thanks for all the kind words.
glenn27 64 #18 Posted March 19, 2009 Great deal--anything free and Wheelhorse is a step forward!!
seabiscuit 0 #19 Posted March 20, 2009 Come on Eldon, WH electrics are very collectable. You don't see many because they are harder than hen's teeth to find. And Mike's got two! Well, maybe 1 and 3/4. These tractors are quiet, no gas, no oil and will out pull a comparable gas engine. Talk about instant torq. The B-145 is rated over 14 HP. Deep down inside, I know you want one....
