KC9KAS 4,744 #1 Posted September 30, 2018 I have a 551 with a replacement engine, but still a 5.5 Techy. The exhaust pipe is all "wobbly" and wired to the frame. There is a heat shield but it too is floppy. Does the exhaust pipe get fastened/bolted to the hood stand then run parallel with the hood then a 45* elbow and muffler? How does the heat shield attach to the exhaust pipe? The manual would not open up for me...may not even show what I am looking for. Thank you for any assistance. How does the heat shield attach to the exhaust pipe? You are correct, the pipe should get fastened to the hood stand with the use of a U bolt/small muffler clamp.
