CasualObserver 3,411 #6 Posted March 13, 2009 Is cast iron seats like that worth a little? Kelly, that's a great deal!! Looks real nice. Randy, yes, cast iron seats have a HUGE following, and some of the older and smaller production ones bring BIG money. I know I've been looking for a Grand Detour Plow Co one for my FIL, and the cheaper of the two I've ever seen was $500. Grand Detour, IL was where John Deere himself started making his steel plows in 1837. He had a blacksmith shop there before he moved to Moline.

Kelly 1,033 #11 Posted March 13, 2009 Thanks guys and a BIG Thanks to Perry for picking it up for me, from what I can find by Googling, that might be a orig. seat not a repo. and yes I might make most of my money back on it. Bow extreme $400 for the seat ? tractor not for sale. But Perry forgot to tell you all he played a April fools joke a little early, and got me GOOD, he sent me a email lastnight saying he picked up my 854, but it wasn't the one I sent him pic's of, not even sure if it was a 854, he included a pic of a 604 and said this is what he picked up, and the 604 is not pretty, I was beside myself, almost POed, so I jumped on the phone to Perry to see what the heck the deal was, he even told the guy he picked it up from he was going to do this, good thing I almost called him first, Perry got me Good, I owe him big time, and not just for pointing me to, and picking up my new toy. Yes good deals are out there, if the guy would have added a pic to his ad, I would have never got it. Road trip in a few weeks to get it.
Eriks Red horse herd 120 #12 Posted March 13, 2009 Hey Kelly- thats one clean tractor, But happen to notice that the lift lever is missing on your tractor but I Guess thats not a big problem for you. With all those tractors you probably have them parts stacked liked cord wood. Still one decent find. Plus I hope to see it at the gathering in charlotte in August. Kelly 1,033 #14 Posted March 14, 2009 Eric, I just bought a HY-3 kit and I think this might be the new home for it, Perry pointed out the belt guard might not be correct, it's not indented were the model no's go, but I have belt guards that should be right. I can't wait to get it home
Sarge 3,465 #15 Posted March 14, 2009 Great score, Kelly . I think Perry got ya pretty good there, lol... Looks like lift arm, belt guard n seat . Not bad for the price for sure. I may have a spare belt guard if you need one . Just FYI- Grand Detour is about 30 miles north of me , been through there quite a few times and even stopped once to see the John Deere site , pretty cool place .
