whfan74 2,071 #1 Posted March 11, 2009 Well before I get in to this let me apologize for not taking the camera once again. I traveled about 20 minutes away to meet a real nice gentleman that had two old Wheel Horses. When we talked on the phone I asked as much as I could but all he knew about them is that they were around a 72. Needless to say I wasn't able to get much information off of them as I had my daughter with me (dad's little tractor hunter) so at the young age of almost 3 I couldn't do a lot of inspecting. Here are my questions....and I know they are almost impossible to answer. First tractor is a 14 Automatic.....started right up and was faded. Did not have a deck but it did have a plow. The sheet metal is completely straight and a great candidate to be freshened up with some new paint. The 2nd I didn't have a chance to look at the tag to look in the book to reference it. It had a decal on the side that said six speed near the front followed by Wheel Horse. It had the two seperate pads on the seat with the vented area at the base in the back. It had a decent older restoration, but not perfect. Solid deck and started right up. He wants $1000 for both which really turned me off.......fair price anyone? I know sight unseen for all of you. What do these usually fetch......sorry for the minimal info. I will probably be heading back down and will make sure I have the camera next time. On a side not I will be talking to the gentleman again tomorrow afternoon. He has approximately 40 tractors in his back yard. Most of them are simplicity's. He has one Ford, a Deutz Allis, tires, decks, plows, snowblowers, and a few other Wheel Horses. He is going to give me a package price to get ever thing out of there. Teddy da Bear 11 #2 Posted March 11, 2009 First one was made in 1973 (horse with no name series) Second one sounds like a Raider. But I think the two piece seat was used on quite a few models.
