Im pretty sure that the C-165 would be the largest black hood with a single kohler, and you could get them with either tranny

Yep the largest single cylinder "Black Hood' is is a C-165 with a 16 hp K-341 Kohler engine.

Here is a picture of one that I owned.

Thanks for the info. Did Wheel Horse change over to a Briggs & Stratton 16 horse in later models of the B-165?

I assume most opinions are that the single cylinder Kohler is a better engine than the 2 cylinder B&S?

thanks,

A B-165 is a vertical shaft Wheel horse, one of the lawn tractor models that had a 16.5 hp Briggs & Stratton twin cylinder engine. And a single cylinder Kohler is alot better IMO than a twin cylinder Briggs.

The B-165 was a vertical-shaft lawn tractor and smaller/totally different from C-165. If you wanted a twin-cylinder Briggs in this style tractor, they made GT-1848, GT-1642, GT-1800 and GT-1600

Hello:

Thanks for the info and explaining the difference between the B and C-165 series. I'm definitely interested in the C-165 or 175 instead of the B-series / B&S engine.

C-175s are amazing machines and have all the power you will ever need to do anything. I loved the C-175 I had
