wildfire305 58 #1 Posted July 1, 2018 It still works correctly. I bought it used, but I would think that number to be impossible for a late 80's 310-8 - all original. It's well worn, but not beat. Do you think someone left the ignition on for three months while it was on a battery tender?
RubyCon1 62 #2 Posted July 1, 2018 not necessarily if this was a primary tractor, 2880 hours over say the last 28 years calculates to only 100 hours per year. that is only 8 hours a month run time or 2 hours per week.
boovuc 1,090 #3 Posted July 1, 2018 Or an ignition switch left on once or twice.........a year.
wildfire305 58 #4 Posted July 1, 2018 Aren't these engines only built for 2000 hours max before needing a rebuild? I wasn't impressed by the PO's maintenance - engine oil barely on the dipstick and reeked of gas, transmission was milky, I was the first to ever touch the zerk fittings, and the first to clean the deck. But I was told that it didn't cut much grass, it was mostly used to feed the animals with a tow cart on a flat farm in Ohio. So, I guess RubyCon1's hypothesis could be spot on. Most of the commercial construction equipment I see over 2000 hours is junk. I tried to dig a sewer in once on a rental mini-excavator with 4300+ and it was so loose it was almost uncontrollable. Tankman 3,515 #5 Posted July 1, 2018 Never paid any attention to hour meters. Who cares? If a Horse moves into my barn, the Stallion is groomed twice as often (or more) than required. Gotta keep the grandsons busy.

squonk 38,952 #7 Posted July 1, 2018 Hour meters are usually toast before the tractor is.
clueless 2,898 #8 Posted July 1, 2018 It takes about 230 hours to completely drain a brand new fully charged battery with the key left on, I've done it more than once . 1
muz123 1,191 #9 Posted July 2, 2018 Seems right to me! Those kohler engines are good engines!
