Teddy da Bear 11 #1 Posted March 7, 2009 I changed my snow plow on my C-195 to the D series 50" mid-mount grader blade today. I mounted it on the tractor and lowered it to the floor... I noticed that one end is approximately 1/2" higher than the other on the level garage floor. Is this typical? I mean there does not seem to be any adjustment for the side to side levelness. I tried to loosen the mounting bolts (on the blade from the frame) in hopes they would be slotted....nope.... I tried torquing the blade with a floor jack and jumping on the side I wanted to go down to level.....nope... Is it typical to find these out of level? And is there any trick short of heating and bending it level??? Thanks
Operator 7 #2 Posted March 7, 2009 Ted Da Bear I bought a brand new one back a few years and I had the same trouble. I even checked tire pressure to level up tractor. Ended up pulling blade and drilling holes just a little bigger then rebolted and found a happy in between spot. Told my dealer about it. All he said is it shouldn't happen they get drilled in a jig. Wait till you angle it then plow, one side will be up too. Randy
Teddy da Bear 11 #3 Posted March 7, 2009 I too ckecked all the tire pressure. I did try grading and the low side did dig in when I did not want it to. I will do the same thing......drill the holes bigger. But that will defeat the locking feature of the carraige bolt.
Operator 7 #4 Posted March 7, 2009 TDB I think I drilled the "other" hole and left the square hole alone. Like my "new"avatar? Getting closer. Randy
Teddy da Bear 11 #5 Posted March 7, 2009 Duhhhhh your right! I was not thinking clearly.....lol I don't see an avitar today 49r... Been following your post though. Don't give up! And I won't either!
Teddy da Bear 11 #6 Posted March 9, 2009 Ok after a lot of finegling....I got an image on photobucket. Here is a picture of the horizontal attachment bar that connects to the quick hitch. Does not look like the manual drawings.... Was wondering what possible purpose could this serve????
Operator 7 #7 Posted March 9, 2009 That's a nice BIG picture Mike. My grader doesn't have the drop like that mine is straight across, yours looks factory too. Kind of like room for the draw bar? Randy
Teddy da Bear 11 #8 Posted March 10, 2009 I was wondering if someone got "creative" and flipped this grader blade around and used it like a back blade.....lol And somehow used this center drop point to lift and lower it. But that is a very wild guess...... Only other thing I can think is that they wanted clearance for something on a "particular" tractor.
.5racer 14 #9 Posted March 10, 2009 If its from a D series its probrably a clearence for a rear PTO shaft that runs down the middle down the center
Teddy da Bear 11 #10 Posted March 10, 2009 The numbers indicate that this grader is a 1973 grader. Even though I was told it was for a D-series....that was not possible because the D's did not come along before 1974. The only tractor that I believe this grader could be for is the 18 Auto.....the predecessor to the D's. Essencially the same tractor....but maybe there was a need for this drop in the attachment bar on that tractor.

Brrly1 1,146 #12 Posted March 11, 2009 Hey Teddy, We would really some pictures. These would really help us, it would show us what kind of grader blade you own. Would be able to tell you more after we see a picture. Thanks Burly
Teddy da Bear 11 #13 Posted March 11, 2009 Burly...it is in my signature. It is a 50" midmount grader blade. You can see from the picture posted earlier it is the "V" style of frame. Burly wants another picture....lol What my friend Burly wants....Burly gets.... This is the only picture I have of it at last years Castleman auction. I already looked up the numbers in PartsTree....but here are the numbers.... Model: 7-1121 Serial: 941290 Strange that the drawings and parts list does not show the knob on the end of the handle. I have the knob on mine... But would like to know if there was a wheel horse logo insert on it and what did it look like? And D-180? You have a C-191??? Don't you mean C-195? Teddy da Bear 11 #15 Posted March 11, 2009 Model 7-1122 shows model years for a 50" grader blade from years 1975 to 1982.
Brrly1 1,146 #16 Posted March 11, 2009 Mike, That small dip there in the middle of the rear bar does not look normal at all. Maybe I have lived a sheltered life but I have not seen one of those at all. Looks a li' different from the grader blades that I have seen. Possibly a special blade? Don't know, but I have ever laid eyes on one of those. Burly Hey Mike I went back into the breakdown of the grader blade and it shows the rear bar as being straight across on this model. So undoubtly someone has welded in something special for their own needs. Take a look and check it out Burly
Teddy da Bear 11 #17 Posted March 11, 2009 Thanks Burly.....but I did look at the drawings as I mentioned in my fourth post (down from the top). My comparison of the drawings to what I have is why I asked the follow up question about this drop in the horizontal bar.
