What to look for in a used 252-H

Hi all,

Going to look at a 252-H tomorrow. Wanted to know if there was any particulars about this tractor that I should pay close attention to before buying? I'm thinking the hydro trans is probably pretty important to make sure it's running right/ not leaking. Looking for tips.

Thanks

:WRS:           The most important consideration is will this unit do what you want done. The 200 series :wh: was built to mow grass and push a bit of snow. If that is your intended work load go check it out. The best way I know of to check any hydro is to look for external leaks, smell the oil (don't want burnt smell) and drive it around at low speed and high speed, stop and start to be sure there are no odd noises, once it is warmed up tie it to a tree and try to pull away, it should spin the tires against the load, same in reverse.

Good luck and :wwp:

Thank you!

That is exactly what I want to do with it actually. In addition I have some small lawn trailers that I want to tow, dethatcher, seeder aerator. I think it'll work well for the application.

Thanks for the tip about spinning tires. That's a great idea.

Thanks!!
