Duff 206 #2 Posted February 26, 2009 Hi, and welcome! The experts here may correct me, but I don't think Wheel Horse had a true "serial number" in the 300-400-500 series tractors. The 3110K801 is the most important number, as parts look-ups and IPL's are tied to this model number. You may already know this, but if you use that number to look anything up you'll need to insert a "dash", thus: 31-10K801. Your machine is a 1990. The other numbers are, if I recall correctly, tied to the production run in some way but I don't know if they qualify as serial numbers. Best wishes! treepatrol 0 #3 Posted February 26, 2009 Thanks Duff ! In there toro site it asks for serial number thats why I asked the tag as stated in first post has quite a few numbers? And can anyone answer these? What year is this also and how do you tell? You said insert a "dash", thus: 31-10K801. Your machine is a 1990. How is that? How is it 1990?? Ps While I am at it can you still buy say parts from dealers? and can you still buy say snow/plow/blade from dealers?
nylyon-(Admin) 7,574 #4 Posted February 26, 2009 The experts here may correct me, but I don't think Wheel Horse had a true "serial number" in the 300-400-500 series tractors. That is both correct and incorrect. I don't know when it started, but I know that in 1994 the serial number desiginated the year of the tractor. In this case however, the model number will give the year. While some parts for your machine may be NLA, I would say that the vast majority of parts are available from any Toro dealer including snow blades, but finding good pre-owned ones are usually much less expensive. treepatrol 0 #5 Posted February 26, 2009 Thanks nylyon. 1. So dealers should have all the hookups that go with either plow and or snow blower ? 2. I have the blower part but not sure oif everything is there? I have to get it out and slide it up to the machine. 3. I would like to buy a plow attachment that will fit mine. 4. I would also like to get my snblower functioning before next winter. 5. I have seen rubber chains how do they work? I have a patio I would like to clear in winter but I dont want to scrape the surface. Thanks again.

Duff 206 #7 Posted February 27, 2009 Thanks, Karl, for the serial number info.! Treepatrol, go to this web site: https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/index.cfm?xCaller=Toro Although you'll see a list of model numbers, click on "Model Search" in the green area at the top of the page. This will take you to a new page. Enter the number with the dash (31-10K801) in the window where it says "Enter Model Number". This will tell you the model and year of your tractor, and allow you to link to assembly drawings and parts lists. Yes, you can still order most parts for your tractor from a local Toro dealer, and if it's a small shop that needs business and has a good reputation, I strongly encourage it. If, on the other hand, there's no dealer close by or the one there has a rotten reputation in terms of customer service, then you may want to look at one of the good on-line parts houses. For almost anything parts-wise, and especially for attachments/implements, I'd advertise here in our "Wanted" section, read our classifieds for what our members have for sale, and then if nothing's available here check eBay and Craigslist before going dealer direct for the big stuff even if it is still available. That said, if you spot something on eBay or Craigslist and have questions about whether it will fit or if the price is reasonable, check with us.
