I picked up my first wheel horse today and need some help. Where should I look for the id tag? I can get pictures of it tomorrow when I go back to the farm.

Welcome to the forum! ... on the 300 400 500 series, look below the seat.

Can you give any more information?

For example; does it say 312-8,  416H or something like that on the hood decal?

And we all Love pictures here!

:WRS:  If it is an older model the serial numbers will be below the dash. Looking forward to pictures.

:WRS:      Once we see a picture we can let you know where to look for model number, they have moved around over the years.

:text-welcomeconfetti:TO :rs:Depending on the year; most WH ID tags are on the steering tower. Look around! Some later models are around seat area.

...Don't be surprised that some previous owners mix things up and add or subtract parts for their needs .  Here on Redsquare, most of us have been around awhile to know and help you out! :text-welcomeconfetti:

The engine has the breakerless ignition used on Chargers and Raiders...since it is a manual  thinking Raider ????

Check under the dash thats were they are on chargers.Looks like a charger/raider but could be an 857.If you can take a pic of the ID on the blower housing of the engine I could maybe give you the year of the engine.:WRS:

Hood may not be original. Emblem is on backwards...:)

I did see that and I don't no why the previous owner put the hood ornament on backwards? If you look at the first picture of the stick shifts it looks like some one put a hook on one of the shifters to keep it from slipping out, it's not a real concern right now though.

I took it on a debt that was owed to me by a coworker, I think he might have tried his hand at mower pulling.

I'm thinking a 1973, perhaps 12 HP.

I’m thinking it is a 12hp or 14HP  and hood is definitely not original. It’s not a 857 because the pto setup does not match a 857 but what it does match is a raider. The pto does match a charger but a charger is an automatic and this one is a six speed I think.

Take a look at the dash and the throttle/choke levers, 1972 or newer.

Looks to me a 10-12hp. Kohler. Probably The "No-Name" series in the early 1970's with a 8-spd transmission. ???? ID tag would be on steering tower. Engine ID would be on the backside of flywheel shroud.
