I reglued mine on my 520H by spraying adhesive on the back and resticking it on.

I looked at that, but wasn't confident that it would stand the heat of the sun in summer. The tape is good to 150 degrees (at that temp, I wilt anyway).

Have you looked on the backside of your gauges for small bulb sockets...forgive me if these questions seem elementary...I'm definitely no expert..

I hope my spray adhesive holds...it seemed to stick very well...

@Handy Don  I looked at the parts diagram for an 1988 518-H and did not see any bulbs or bulb sockets on there.

THE 520-SC <<< SC for Snow Chucker Wheel Horse only made a prototype when I got her. Well she don't  eat rocks so good. So while I'm at it I'm replacing bearings. She used to be up front of garage but now has to set in back Cause the F-350 nudged it over.

The SW gauges in your 518H will have plugs in the holes in the backside of the gauges for lights to be inserted.

The newer 520's came with lights installed so you might be able to source lights from a newer machine.

I think there was only one or two years in the early 90's that had both lights and SW gauges.

Don't know if the lights from the plastic toro gauges fit or not.

However, even with a good light inserted into the hole there is no light passes through the face of the gauge like you might expect.

Only a little halo of light around the outside of the gauge face so you won't notice a lot of difference.

Might be cheaper and easier to wear a hat with a little light in the brim so when you look down at the gauges they are lit up ?

AMC if you look closely in the picture behind the 520 and the XI you can see the seniors hood.

Got studs welded on to the loader subframe so my drum weights are now bolted down. I need to replace the drive belt hopefully this weekend, its brand new but i was lazy putting it on, and it shredded right away cause i had it on the wrong side of the belt guard. Been limping it around with my shredded belt for weeks now 😂

Agreed. I'll use my headlamp, if I need to do dark work. That would also show me where the levers and switches are in the dark!

The gauges are not the kind with a bulb option and there is no wiring for bulbs.

Definitely not worth replacing gauges just to get lights!

Luckily, my headlamp has a red setting!

Nice seeing the plane, I'm sure that was a lot of fun. In that era I was learning to fly a sailplane. Absolute blast, but in the end realized it was a hobby incompatible with having a young family so I gave it up.

Oh that’s the old broken rope, huh? So the replacement wraps around a post or is clamped in place?

On a more serious note,  I had a neighbor bring me his push mower he couldn't get started. Turned out his recoil rope kept breaking so he just tied the handle to what was left. Ended up with a cord about a foot and a half long. Bout tore my arm off the first time I gave it a yank!

I'm thinking you have a busted flywheel key and she's out of time...........

Because i don’t have my Rims until now,

i decided today to give the Engine a closer inspection today.

first i remove the Head to see what‘s happen.

This is what i found.

That Screams for a decarbon urgently.

Ok, i will do that, the result looks so.

than i checked the Head and align it.

after that i install a new headgasket.

I see while cranking the Engine, the Piston pumps some oil, seems i need new Pistonrings and a rehone the Cylindre.

While thinkering i begin to rework The Enginecover a little.

So let‘s grab few tools and let us begin.

After cleaning  and degrease a coat of Primer and after cure a new Color skin.

While it needs little time to dry, i stop the work for today.

Time to search for pistonrings...

or maybe...
