It has a decompression lever. Its hard starting in cold weather but if its over 60° it always starts on the 1st pull. 

I will have to check them out really have soft spot for diesels.

Its the 2nd one I installed.  1st one was in a RJ. I never completed it & sold it at a local show to a guy from out of state. He offered me too much $$ to say no.

what kind of HP are they? I have got a few extra 400 Suburban parts laying around (hood,frame,frontaxle etc.) and was thinking of making some sort of custom out of them and thought a diesel would be interesting to use.

Sad but true. Got up early this morning in hopes to wrap up an engine rebuild. Got to the point of installing the rings on the piston. Bottom ring went well, got to the second ring and of course it dropped in the top groove. Was carefully walking it around and.......snap. After the words of choice stopped I lit a thinking stick and went for about a 1/4 mile walk to calm down. Well as they say "Crap happens". I'm over it, new parts are on the way, hopefully next time will turn out better.

Moved the trail cam to the asparagus patch to see if deer were eating that ... It was what they call a bluebird day.

Advertised as 3hp. Power seems more than adequate but only work it may see is hauling a yard cart around.  I did it more for cruising at shows & to do something different, other than a Predator. Most important thing to do is prime the injection pump before trying to start for the 1st time.

Son called to say the '76 C120 stalled down in the meadow. They mow it about once a month - hard on the 42RD. The left wheel mount had snapped a month ago and I welded it. All seemed fine then. I had refurbished the K301 and trans about 10 years ago. She's a beast - can't have many hours, though I pulled it from the backyard of an old church friend where it sat for many years. I brought the 516 over and the 48SD finished it for them. Well, the RD was soaked with oil. Found that I had not torqued the oil pan. The bolts loosened and the gasket blew. Luckily, the stall wasn't a seize. The fuel pump - a Briggs-like pulse pump - filled with oil and starved it for fuel before it would starve for oil. Phew! We're lucky that way. Pulled the engine, replaced the gasket and refreshed the deck a bit. Good time for the youngest to see how. All good and ready for another season in the meadow. I was sure to check the rod and balance gears to ensure my brain hadn't failed there. Close one!

These were really cheap ones too. Two for like $80. I was plowing a furrow for planting more asparagus roots for this one. Second pic is a Wild Game camera at the end of the field.

The wife wanted one of the daycare play scapes relocated in the yard now that we’re down to two of them from three.

This afternoon I swapped a center spindle out as the idler swap didn’t change the noise from the deck. It is better but I’ll have to mow with it to see if anything changed. At least now I know the center spindle, and idler are greased and both seem to be good. The only other rotating parts are the two outer spindles which they’ll be the next thing to be swapped. I’m at least going to check them out and give them a good clean out if not swap them. I’m just curious though how much noise should these 3 blade 42”deck make? If it’s a hum I’d be good with that. Before I started swapping parts I couldn’t hear the engine at all over the deck.

My 42RD is just barely audible over the engine noise with stock exhaust. The deck has a very mild hum.

Those two blades look beat up. Have you checked them to see if they are balanced?
