Handy Don 16,156 #25701 Posted Sunday at 10:34 PM (edited) The 854 got a spiffy new set of adjustable tie rods commissioned from @ri702bill. Beautiful craftsmanship! Much improved steering now that the toe-out has been corrected. When giving it a test ride, I discovered that the tractor's left turn radius is a few inches tighter than its right turn radius when the spindle arms are hitting their respective stops. Only quirk is that the ball ends that I sourced have SAE threading on both the male and female parts, but the flats are metric! The shaft flats are SAE because Bill turned them from SAE hex stock. Used my 1962 Wheel Horse 702 and my Stryker spreader! Took about one hour. 51% chance of rain this evening and 100% in Wednesday! We don't have any rain in the 10 day forecast here in NC so consider yourself lucky! 1

Then my well water started to grow some slimy snot.. After about three years of shock treating that only worked for about 3 months, I contacted Penn State and was informed the weed and feed was probably leaching into the well and causing the growth. I stopped the weed and feed and the well has tested good for several years. I have weeds and bare spots, but the water is good. 4

Same here. We don't try to grow a lawn. In the rough area around the garden it seems like about 3 years after its creation there was more grass than weeds. Rough. But green when cut. Good enough. Out front of the house we'll eventually need to replace the sand/rocks/dirt with prettier dirt. Or stones. Or maybe even let it go wild for a bit so it too grows green stuff.

Much of the yard is so heavily shaded that moss is the only thing that grows. Over the winter we had a paver patio installed in the back yard and the track loader left some areas needing to be reseeded, I have to water those areas about an hour every afternoon to keep the tender new grass alive. May get a bit of rain this weekend but the TV weather lady didn't sound too optimistic about it.

I have weeds and bare spots At my house in western Pennsylvania, I had a neighbor that started telling me how he fed his lawn spring, summer and fall. At one point, I interrupted him and told him that I tend to propagate the native species. We never breeched the subject again. Our homes bordered a native trout stream and my primary concern was with impact. Our yard was full of wild flowers, and dandelions. They mowed just fine. Mine was the only lawn that was green in August.

My neighbor owns a fairly large landscape company, so his yard is perfect. But he has a crew of employees that visit his place as much as 2-3 times a week during the summer and at least weekly all year round. I have neither that kind of free time nor can I afford it. So all I can do is battle my grass when I can. That will just have to do!
