Ed Kennell 41,247 #23554 Posted May 15 I remounted the front tiller. I had mounted it on my working plow frame and had to switch from tiller to dozer blade using the same frame. I had this old short plow frame with no blade and the front angle sector was rust welded fast. Perfect use to mount the tiller. I had to trim the frame rear a bit to fit the axle bracket and redo the two support legs and the belt tensioner. Now I have a dozer blade tractor and a tiller tractor ready to go full time. 4

squonk 43,276 #23557 Posted May 15 My dump cart releases every time a cat passes wind. Reticfied it with some weld on the edge of the release handle and a heavier spring from my stash of Power King parts. 6
Horsin'round 209 #23558 Posted May 16 Looking for that magic bullet. I've been putting this off for a while, but finally decided it was time. I dug into the motion control linkage on my C-160, and got as far as the cam plate. The retaining screws are mounted solid. It looks like someone else has had their way with them, with no luck. To wit, they apparently applied gobs of copper metallic grease to everything. I cleaned most of it out, and hit the screws with a generous amount of pb blaster, still won't budge. Lather, rinse, repeat for now. 5
mrc 895 #23559 Posted May 16 hi horsin'around, i had to use a phillips bit in a socket and 1/4 inch drive ratchet to loosen mine. just a suggestion. regards mike 2

I'll give that a shot tonight. I tried a small pair of vice grips, didn't budge. I am leaning towards a light percussive shock(bigger hammer theory). In the meantime, I'll keep soaking it with pb blaster and hope something gives.

Will an impact screwdriver work or are you afraid it might cause breakage?
squonk 43,276 #23562 Posted May 16 If you get those screws out, replace them with socket head (allen head ) screws 2

I'll offer two suggestions. 1. Use a more aggressive penetrating oil. ATF and acetone mix. Kroil. One of the better brands.... 2. Try to TIGHTEN those screws just a hair before you try to loosen them.
Horsin'round 209 #23564 Posted May 16 49 minutes ago, lynnmor said: Will an impact screwdriver work or are you afraid it might cause breakage? Tight quarters, my impact screwdriver does not leave enough room to strike efficiently. Been tapping on my stubby Philips to try to break the bond. 37 minutes ago, squonk said: you get those screws out, replace them with socket head (allen head ) screws I assumed that I would be replacing the screws. I like the idea of socket heads, haven't thought that far ahead. Thanks, will do! 37 minutes ago, ebinmaine said: . Use a more aggressive penetrating oil. ATF and acetone mix. Kroil. One of the better brands.... Need to do some shopping, Kroll and knock'er loose are on the list. Hadn't thought of atf and acetone, but I have some marvel mystery oil to try. I intend to replace it anyway, but how will acetone affect the cam? 41 minutes ago, ebinmaine said: . Try to TIGHTEN those screws just a hair before you try to loosen them. Another great trick. Been trying it. I'll let you know how I fare tonight.

Tuneup 1,442 #23569 Posted May 16 Two Wheel Horses came from old Homer's backyard. I restored the C-125 but the 77 C-120 I dragged out of the weeds sat in the shed for when one of the boys could use it and that time has come. I had already gone through the engine and trans and the 42 RD deck was rebuilt. Still, the oil was so old (had not run). Drained it. Chinesium pump useless. Installed a vac pump. Front tires don't hold air for more than a few hours. Amazon had a $69 deal for two on rims! Rears are still the original hard as a rock Carlisles. Charged the battery and some hardware here and there and she's ready. She'll mow a 1 acre meadow on a flood plain with a running brook and catfish pond. Nice to give her a good home and I know she'll be well taken care of. 3
ML3 1,552 #23570 Posted May 17 Did some maintenance on 654. Put a new muffler on so its quieter now. Took steering components apart & made some repairs. Steering was getting really sloppy. Made a huge improvement after repaired. 4

Sparky-(Admin) 22,740 #23575 Posted May 17 Cleaned and wire-wheeled a pair of IH weights I bought couple weeks ago. These will be inside weights on one of my Wheel Horses someday. Black primer for now. Strange flat head screw on each. I have like 4 other pairs of these, need to see if they also have the screw head. 6
