Looks like the same routing I should be using on the one that I picked up a few months ago.

The PO had the belt wrapped right around the bottom of everything and just snugged right up tight as a drum.

It worked.....

Bugs me to look at it though.

Could be your belt is too short for the correct routing.

If say that's true. Dude's dad  wrapped it right around. No Z shape.  He left it that way after the dad passed on and he got the tractor because it worked. Sort of.

lots of belt systems dont use tensioner systems at all. Id have to see the set up you have, to say for sure. But you can have just 2 pulleys and a belt without an idler at all. Think bike chain. Just sorta stretch the belt into place.

Looks like he just turned the tensioner up side down to be able to use the one tensioner pulley with a  short belt.    No tensioner works on two rigid fixed distance  pulleys, but the PTO to blower drive pulley distance changes quite a bit over the blower lift range.    The belt would surely jump off without a tensioner.

Just mounted some weights. Their off a simplicity. About 25 lbs each, so total of around 100 lbs.

Used 3/4 PVC as a spacer to have bolt tension prior to sliding the weights into place. Seemed to make the install easier and probably less damage to the paint on the rims.

Looks like a 'proper' big tractor with the dual wheel like that. Most duals on the gt's are another wheel bolted on, I like this better.

Got some thick HDPE plastic, bolted in place with the original wear strip on mine.

Those plows look almost too nice to use fellas... 

Worked on a front end for the 701. What a pain given what i had off the carcass to work with. Roll pin holes wallowed out. Steering arms pin holes all wallowed out.... I shoulda looked for replacements but was up for the challenge. My success hinges on the results of high strength epoxy.

The control arm angle is good for my 418-A. This will be my 5th winter using this plow. Just giving it a refresh. Of course I don't have a pic of the right side with it mounted on the 418-A.

 

 

But I do with it mounted on the 312-8.

It looks like you were considering kite string as part of the repair but went with epoxy instead. Good choice!

Mason's line Don strung around tires to check alignment.  Trying to get a little toe in. Or anything even close to it!  Since the drag link has no adjustments everything was set by the roll pins through the top of the spindles & steering arms. They looked like Swiss cheese.

Yep, all built in at the factory with no plans for adjustments after wear. (But is it you who often reminds us this isn't race cars or rockets? )

Those steering arms were the only parts I didn't disassemble on the 854 frame -- they were tight and aligned and I knew all I could do is ruin them!
