The design like any other has room for improvement. I think if it were a horrible design there wouldn't be thousands of them still working 50-60 years later. It works just fine when used for the loads it was intended for.

WHs are tough but they are Garden Tractors.. Start using them like bulldozers or skid steer and guess what...

Exactly.

I made some reinforcement for the Bronco because I have a disc set that weighs about 250 lbs. Extending it out almost two feet behind the tractor adds quite a bit of leveraged force on that plate.

...but that tractor was not designed for those forces to be applied.

Snow has started to fall.

I'm getting closer to having a new plow tractor.

Front weights and chains are on so far.

Be careful with he overrun on the winch.    When I had that setup I had to install a big spring in line after breaking some parts.

Looks like the winch will be pulling back on the plow frame rather than up. May want to run the cable through a pulley block near the top of your brush bar.

If your using the remote, you need to disconnect the power when not using it as it will pull the battery down. I just disconnect the ground wire from the battery when it's not needed.  Was going to put a 30 amp big truck light switch on it never got around to order one.

All good info guys.

Thanks.

I definitely will be changing a few things after this big snow. I'm running out of time at the moment. It's already snowing like heck

Yes, good idea Richard.    That would also allow more room to install a safety spring.    The anchor point on the plow frame could also be moved back so the lift cable is vertical.

Lol I just moved the anchor point. Wrapped a short chain around the push tubes. Connected with a shackle which is where the hook is snapped in.

@johnnymag3 Hudson valley too. My job involves a lot of snow removal this time of year and that’s what we’re all being told. So far we’ve had around 3in and it just keeps coming.

The only ones I've ever seen break were from wheelies.

It's a fair bet that if you get one that is broken, that or something similar caused it.

There are several folks on here however, who have made nice braces under there for just such a concern. The pic below is not mine, but a good example.

How well do those reinforcements clear the decks? I’ve been thinking about building some for the my 310 because it’s my primary wood hauler.

Rear ice chains are on along with the wheel weights and another 50lbs of weight.

I think Hiram is as ready as he is going to be for this storm.

If he does well maybe a cab will be something to think about.

Time for a hot beverage and watch this white stuff pile up.

Shouldn't be an issue. It's parallel with the belt guard.

@johnnymag3looks like you’ve taken care of that truck to get those years out of it. I’m hopefully replacing my 98 ram 1500 this weekend. NY salt finally got to her.

That was the kind of snow I wanted to see all season. Did most of the driveway with my snowplow, but had to make a nice bathroom area for the dog with the blower.😅

Nice! I was working since Friday 11pm came home midnight Saturday and today seat time on the C145 to make some paths for our pup.

1989....I love it

Neighbors think I am crazy to be washing it after plowing....10 degrees outside....hot water was.    Solid as can be for 32 years old....and a plow truck with those miles...LOTS of regular services, makes a huge difference

Thanks. No I didn't. That HF winch stopped working 10ft out of the garage

The only thing I have found is the level adjustment rod may rub on the one on the left side. I just bent the bar across the deck out a little to clear.
