I had some starting issues with my B-80 yesterday.   I think I need to check out points and maybe replace points and condenser which have not been replaced for several years.  I had good spark and yet no fire in the motor.   I cleaned the center carb needle, bowl and changed the spark plug.  Still a no go so I  decided to reconfigure my snowplow plan for this season.

Ao I had my snowplow all set up on the B-80 and decided to change it to my backup 854 Wheel Horse that I used last year.

I put my B-80's snowplow on the 854 but had to change the rear 3/4 inch hitch rod to the inner position used for short frame tractors.   I also had the short solid lift on the B-80  and I changed to the long solid lift piece on the 854 setup.   Took about an hour 0but it is done and ready for the next snowfall.

Found few Day‘s ago a small unit, that shall be able to remove Points and condenser to have a breakerless ignition.

That chip shall also be working on Kohler and Tecky Engines.

Price is even cheap with Just 20$ , so i ordered it and will give it a try when it arrives.

I think it Sounds interesting, never again check or clean points or even point or condenser troubles further.

Will post my results if and how it works.

I'll be curious to hear about the results for the Kohler.

The Tecumseh 6 horse 1967 that we have has a charging system in the flywheel so there's a BUNCH of magnets in it.

Because of this a trigger system obviously won't work.

Ordered a ton of hydraulic parts to overhaul the current pump system on the charger 12 loader. Hydraulic parts are NOT cheap. On the way is a new: 0.36 ci pump 2.9gpm/5.7gpm, an aluminum foot mount, suction hose, fittings for inlet amd outlet port, and some other small things. With the new hydro system and transmission i got from pullstart i should have a nice reliable loader in the spring time. Gotta try and get it up the hill thru the snow so i can work on building a subframe.

Gonna have to give that a whirl. Been using Ford Wimbledon white, it looks good in person, photographs more white, but yours looks ‘dirtier’ and closer to factory.

Pulled the wheels off my 854 to get redone; I understand the whole patina thing but these are just an old, lousy repaint (wrong color, peeling, overspray, mis-matched centers).  Haven't decided on paint or powdercoat yet, but they're getting blasted either way. Tires are in fantastic shape other than the overspray.

It seems to work on all non battery powered ignitions.

As long as it is a Magneto ignition, it shall work.

While i do lot’s on research for new Points i found this Module as exchange Part.

Yesterday after finding and order this Module i found this video - think ya know this Guy.. 😂👍

He uses the same Module, so it seems to Work.

Old tires always look better with M. E. Miller Tire paint.  One or two coats on 60 year old tires will surprise even the most particular restorer to the quality look achieved !

The attached ag tire photo is of an original 1958 RJ tractor tire!

I have used it for years and highly recommend its use.

Good choice!

Suggested install tips: take the rear tires off for easy access to the hitch bolts...

FINALLY! got the post office to move the package that has been sitting at a sort facility for 2 weeks and deliver the parts I need to finish the steering shaft renewal work on my 175.

That front flanged bearing is easy to get off, but NOT easy to put back on!  There is very little space above the front axle to get the nuts back onto the bolts.

Sooooo... I turned them around and put the nuts on the backside of the plate instead of trying to finagle the nut up into that small space.  MUCH easier to get the BOLT into that hole and hold it with a finger as the nut is started on the backside in the clear.

If you ever have to do this job a good tip is to put your floor jack under the axle at the end, under the steering stop, and lift the opposite side you're working on, then do the same for the other side.  This give much more room with the axle tilted out of the way.

That front bearing was a MESS!  It fell apart when I removed it.

I also got a refurbed steering support from K and B (Brian) that looked like NEW!  HUGE kudos to Brian, highly recommended! :handgestures-thumbupright:

Another tip:  When lubricating your machine, don't stop at the grease zerks.  Get an oil can and oil that front bearing, and the bearing at the rear of the steering support block as well.

( I use Shell Rotella T1 30 weight diesel oil )

Going to finish up tomorrow, it's supposed to be near 60 here in NJ in advance of a Christmas rain storm with high winds...

I bet there will no longer be 6" of free play in the wheel! :happy-bouncygreen:

I added some supports to my rear suitcase weight bracket today. Until now all the weight was hanging from the receiver hitch. When I built the subframe I drilled a pair of holes at the rear in prep for this and just never got around to it. I bent up some 3/16  x 1 1/2” flat bar. I put a jack under the weight rack to lift it up when drilling the holes in the braces and the rack. In my mind that would maximize the amount of weight the braces/subframe would support and minimize the amount of weight on the hitch. It seemed to work. When everything was reassembled the rack was no longer resting in the bottom of the 2” receiver. 82D7A555-CE3A-4068-9030-921513AEB644.jpeg.78efc6b3cb5f687f33363f9cc809f74b.jpeg88483EF8-740B-4B85-A6D2-F7C94D8CF54C.jpeg.380f528e7660245cb19e1a1c46612daf.jpegAC872DF3-83AD-4661-A5A7-F0624A73A0E0.jpeg.59523bf5cf2785734d59debdb6ae48b8.jpeg1C5F0B38-3A03-4E31-9F8F-934613096637.jpeg.9663c938d5cd94f9356bc75853862f51.jpeg34ABB406-1C2E-42D1-9DDA-A839D131294A.jpeg.66e979ef90089a7005576c23dc3b5894.jpeg984BAEBE-CB7C-4618-A007-C9E3D3D98BA1.jpeg.2e2ba0425cd38e3bb6deb167610c4fe3.jpeg

About 300 pounds. My buddy works at a JD dealership and found the 7 - 42 lb weights in their used weight pile that I cleaned up and painted black(yes there’s some green paint under there). The weight holder itself weighs about 20 lbs.  Here are some pics when I built it a couple years ago. 3DF287E8-F4D6-4FBA-8DC4-DA97A843029D.jpeg.aa91b135d3c482a141bea46098b255bb.jpeg70A35B21-AE51-413A-B05B-DADA0558B2AC.jpeg.50fe35fe5da23f713af36ba9beead222.jpegF12E3682-C8A6-453B-91BA-4738D1B63CA4.jpeg.e179a37afa9fe53e9e818c7aa10822df.jpegB9CEB7EB-5B48-4100-A14B-65E227E30D14.jpeg.5228ef57dfed74927cf2f306d0fc9eb9.jpeg

Nice looks great. I think ill add between 2 and 3 hundred to my loader and see how it does. Works ok now with 50 pound wheel weights and loaded tires but not a lot of pushing traction

One of the other things to remember that I just recently learned about is when you have a loader tractor it's important to put weight BEHIND the rear axle.

That gives you the double benefit of increasing traction and decreasing the load on the steering axle.

Pretty happy about all the tractors in the operating room. Happiest of all about the C-160-8. Now the gas tank is on and it cranks and fires right up. evidently, the carburetor is OK and the fuel pump works well enough to keep the bowl filled. now the worker c-141 is up on the lift with oil change and prep to take on the snow blade. The two black hood c145 series will light off a charge of fuel , and i have flattened off the heads and de-carboned them. one works off the existing wiring harness and the other is gonna get a new one . I do have room in the shop for one more, and the c-121 needs a new battery after being de-carboned.

It's gonna get cold, so it's time to fire up the pellet stove.  Two operating tables that lift thirty inches save my knees and let me work on multiple tractors. What a blessing. You even see guys like Vice Grip garage and Mustie 1 going for lift equipment because rolling on the ground just is not fun anymore. i might even build a wheeled Wheelhorse gurney with the casters I have. Just use the lift equipment to load the project tractors on to the gurney...
