520-8 pto arm clevis

Recommended Posts

Adams94

I have a 1990 520-8 and a 1982 c195, the c195 is the top picture and the 520 is on bottom.  My agrivation is the pto clevis where the clip pin goes in,  on the c195 it is made to just flip down and swing but on the 520 you have like 4 more steps to get the arm to move,  why would the make it more of a pain on a newer model.  I'm wanting to change the 520

My 1976 purchased new had the 520 style and I converted it to the swing down style. It definitely does save a couple steps. You should be able to find a used one. :)

Not the pin, the clevis itself

Yea I like it a lot better, especially if you are changing the belt when that exhaust right above it is nice and hot!

I am interested as well.

I see 3 listed on ebay right now for a 312A, C-161, and C-165.

Will any of those fit ?

None that I saw are correct but I may have missed it, the wheel horse part number is 109717 but discontinued.

Do a search for 'Wheel Horse PTO'. Searching the part number didn't show anything but there are several of both styles still attached to the yoke listed. :)

I'm not certain about the yoke but the clevis would swap out on the 312, 161, 165 or others.

Obviously, keep in mind that you'll have to drill a new hole for the pivot point.

Thanks, if I found the right Clevis already mounted I would just change the arm

Well, I thought I would have a go at designing something.

This is what I came up with.

Here is a comparison with the swingaway on the left and stock on the right.

Big thanks - we love to make new parts , especially pre-designed with dimensions .

I forgot to mention the spring pin itself.

I used a 5/32 x 1-1/4" with a 3/32 x 1-1/4" nested inside to increase strength.

Small one is installed first into the larger one then the larger one is installed into clevis (this is right from the manufacturer of these pins).

Start the pin into the clevis then place over the hole in the rod and drive in until it has the same amount protruding from both sides.

Same hole is used in rod, no new hole was drilled.

I put a little piece of 3/4" wood in the open end of the clevis so it does not get bent down when installing spring pin.

Those of you with eagle eyes probably noticed the different lower hole position in the rod itself.

I did some comparisons on my machines and found out why.

The early 520's used a motor mount plate that stayed flat where the PTO rod passes through and is held.

Later 520's have the plate slightly stepped up.

Rods are identical except for the hole being drilled further up around 1/2" on the later models.

Just something to watch out for if you replace or swap out this rod and or motor mount plate.
