Chris1055 106 #1 Posted November 16, 2017 (edited) Hi I just acquired this and was wondering what model it is. I was gonna throw it on my 856. It's really clean just surface rust. The only thing is it doesn't have a chain. What is the chain length and is it the same same size as my 42 inch blower because I have a spare. WHX?? 46,808 #2 Posted November 16, 2017 First off Chris On the chain it is more than likely #40 size but length I do not know. It would be best to start with a length a couple of links longer and remove a link at a time till you get the just right fit. That's what I would do anyway bit I do buy my chain in bulk. . Hope this helps you out. Others will be along to welcome you and share some wisdom.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,503 #3 Posted November 16, 2017 Is the main housing 32" wide? or 37" wide? The flat plate extensions on the end of the housing were optional. Just one idler sprocket on the inside? May be a 1965 model. Changed my guess. The serial looks like a 1964 number. Compare the chain. It may have used #41 chain which is the same 1/2" pitch (pin to pin) but narrower than what you have for the 42" model. Garry
Chris1055 106 #4 Posted November 16, 2017 I measured it not including extensions and it reads 29 1/2 so I'm guessing it would of been a 30 inch and it has one adjustment sprocket idler? On the bottom Auger sprocket and drive sprocket
Chris1055 106 #5 Posted November 16, 2017 I also don't have the chain to see if it's a 40 or 41 chain type
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,503 #6 Posted November 16, 2017 I think this is what you have. Click on the picture. The roller on #41 chain is 1/4" long. The roller on #40 chain is 5/16" long. The thickness of the sprocket will determine which chain to use because the teeth have to travel inside the links. Garry

A #40 chain will work on a #41 sprocket, but a #41 chain will not work on a #40 sprocket. Measure the thickness of your sprocket. A #41 sprocket will be about .225" thick. A #40 sprocket will be about .30" thick.
Chris1055 106 #8 Posted November 19, 2017 Ended up getting 10 ft of #40 chain. I'll put new chain on the 42 inch as well. Does anybody have a diagram for this?
WVHillbilly520H 10,369 #9 Posted November 19, 2017 Here's what I did for the 42" tall chute I believe it's the same for the short chute, Jeff.
