TDF5G 2,072 #1 Posted November 1, 2017 Picked this one up the other day. I'll try to keep the story brief. This tractor belonged to some folks who attend the same church as me. Their son is the same age as me, he and I were high school buddies and we used this tractor to cut firewood on his grandpa's place. His dad is in bad health and went to nursing home and at church a few weeks ago, his mom asked me if I wanted the tractor, to come and get it. It's an 856. The head and flywheel are missing. Son in law says the key way went bad that holds the flywheel on and he never found a replacement. Don't know what happened to the head. Crankshaft key way appears ok but it's rusted due to exposure. Engine is not seized. Got a mower deck that's locked up and all the manuals and few parts. They have a dozer blade that's buried in the back of their shed also. Gonna pick it up later on. 6

Too many projects stacked up. The tire chain latches aren't in great shape, one side is has just hooks someone added, so I think I'm gonna make some 2 link sets with another pair I have. ClassicTractorProfessor 5,366 #5 Posted November 1, 2017 I know that feeling all too well...very easy to get too many projects going at once. I've got two ongoing projects at the house (C125 & C141), three more tucked away in storage (701, 1277, & Choremaster Model B), and one larger project (Ford 2n) set to arrive at the house soon.
AMC RULES 37,153 #6 Posted November 1, 2017 (edited) Nice score... seems, with all the round hoods/RJ's drying up... these short frame, square hoods are fast becoming their replacements. Edited November 1, 2017 by AMC RULES
