Searcher60 209 #1 Posted August 8, 2017 Snagged this in a tool trade Saturday night. Got the tin off cleaning out the grass. Not anything there. Only showing 301 hours. Battery evidently leaked in the past, or froze up and cracked. Drain tube from battery is above deck. Acid apparently ran out on deck from the drain tube and ate up the deck. I am in the market for a very nice 48" deck and dozer blade. I think this really is a 300 hr. machine. I love the sound and feel of the Onan. This thing screams!

cleat 7,064 #3 Posted August 8, 2017 Wow, did he not bother to clean up the acid ? That would have taken quite a while. Normally that is the best part of the deck from oil being spilled on it. Love the 520's. Cleat
Daddy Don 907 #4 Posted August 8, 2017 can the deck be repaired with new metal
Searcher60 209 #5 Posted August 8, 2017 Not realistically. The holes are just to big. Just not worth it. 56 minutes ago, cleat said: Wow, did he not bother to clean up the acid ? Cleat The guy I got it from purchased it from his neighbor, who was the original owner. I got the original manual with it. 4 of them. I think it sat in a shed, and maybe the battery went dead and froze up and cracked.

chip61 664 #8 Posted August 8, 2017 Nice looking tractor! Too bad about the deck. You're gonna like that Onan-I've really enjoyed my 416 with the Onan twin but it sure is thirsty compared to the Kohler singles!! Did you find it close to home?
1995 520H+96+97 937 #9 Posted August 8, 2017 Are the scalp rollers the same as the middle one in the picture? The middle one is not original equipment. I don"t think a scalp wheel could be destroyed in 300 hours.

I cannot see any difference between the rollers on either deck. What are you seeing? What am I missing? 6 hours ago, chip61 said: Nice looking tractor! Too bad about the deck.
