robertconlogue1234 1 #1 Posted August 1, 2017 So I have a C181 tractor with a KT17 kholer twin engine, and am new to this forum and have little knowledge of wheel horse tractors. Are the C181 tractors very rare? What would be a fair asking price ? It runs well and only needs some minor repairs and paint is in good condition. Also having a hard time finding a manual for this machi ne, any ideas? Thanks robert
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,272 #2 Posted August 1, 2017 Not aware of a C-181 model. Have the long model number off the ID plate? There was going to be a C-171 in 1979 but it never happened. Garry

robertconlogue1234 1 #5 Posted August 2, 2017 This is what i have. Thinking it might be c81 not c181. Not sure where I can find the plate for the actual model. Any ideas?
robertconlogue1234 1 #6 Posted August 2, 2017 found the plate id # 91-08k802-298q4 6171
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,272 #7 Posted August 2, 2017 Sure the 6171 is not 9171? That is the Julian build date - 171st day of 1979 Garry
rmaynard 15,938 #8 Posted August 2, 2017 That would be the ID for a 1979 C-81. Looks like someone repowered it with a KT17
robertconlogue1234 1 #9 Posted August 2, 2017 Double checked it is 6171 so i guess i have a souped-up model. Nice. any idea what would be reasonable for this model for resale? Runs although will need new battery and small adjustments to tighten throttle and a few other touch ups
rmaynard 15,938 #10 Posted August 2, 2017 Funny that the Julian build date stamped onto an ID tag for a 1979 tractor would be 6171, indicating that it was built in the 171st day of 1976. If the C-81 were all original with it's K-181 engine, I would value it at around $400.00. The KT17 (series 1) engine does not add any value. Just my 2 cents worth.
12 hp Kohler 1,020 #11 Posted August 3, 2017 If you look closely at the decal on hood you can see the 1 after the c looks different then the 1 after the 8 so then they must have painted it on and that means it was a c-81 decal that they modified
