Rollerman 290 #1 Posted February 7, 2009 My son & I have been haveing a blast playing in the snow this year....between blowing snow with a Lawn Ranger, pushing it with a 520H & now stacking the piles with a couple of FEL tractors that I aquired this winter. One is a 77 Sears 6Speed 16HP Twin...this is a TUFF tractor with an Onan CCKA engine. Deffinatley not as easy to work on as a Horse but an equal in durability IMOP. It has a goofy self leveling bucket & it's kinda narrow at 30" but it's fun to operate My son Tay has it mastered & he can get his feet around the uprights...I don't think Sears or Kwic Way figured someone with size 14's would be useing one of these. The other is a Case 648 with an 18HP Onan...this thing is built like a tank & very smooth operateing machine. It's my new favorite & has been very usefull hauling things about the block or even unloading heavy stuff from my truck. I also picked up an Ingersoll 446 & 448 in the deal. I haven't got the 446 going yet, but I'm anxious to try out the 448 for mowing this comeing season when the grass wakes up. No pics yet since there tucked in on the crowded side of my shop. Nick 13 #2 Posted February 7, 2009 Nice pics of the new toys in actions Stephen. Ive always wondered how the older self leveling KW loaders would hold up. Im sure there are times it would be a nice option to have especially when using forks. Those dedicated loader tractor Case/Ingersolls were definitely heavy built machines. Plus with the optional 3pt hitch and rear hydraulics they are some handy machines. I still remember looking at the sales flyer years ago wondering how that rear hydraulically run mower and tiller would work out. Its strange they never caught on even better than they did. Some of them even have a higher rated loader lift capacity than the new small Kubota compact diesels. With this new loader competition around I'll have to tighten up the loose bolts, turn up the reliefs and get the ole Load Ranger up to fightin condition. :horseplay:
pond195520032003 27 #3 Posted February 7, 2009 they are lookin good Stephen they are in good condition!! now i need to finish my kw loader and get it mounted to the sears GT19.9 we havent used any of our loaders this winter only have 3 sears tractors with loaders, a case 648, and a magnatrac with loader and back hoe :dunno:
Sparky-(Admin) 23,169 #4 Posted February 7, 2009 Those are both cool lookin tractors! I know how big the Sears is but not the Case. Is it comparable to a Wheel Horse "D"? Mike.....
Rollerman 290 #5 Posted February 7, 2009 Nick it sure seems like the Case/Ingersolls are more popular in certain areas just like Wheelhorse. The line of tractors & attachments is still being produced. Last I heard they were going to release there latest version of the dedicated FEL Tractor or FEL/BH tractor. Mine is far from "in fighting condition" yet...still have to fix some leaks & get some weight over the back tires....maybe a 3 point & a box blade. Greg....your just braggin now.... Still looking for a Sears 3 point.... Mike the Case is probably in the same class as a D. Size wise it's just a shade bigger & I'd say built a lot tuffer. They run one hydraulic pump for everything with hyd drive motor on the rear axle. So the FEL, 3 point, power steering & drive run off one system with room to expand.....ie hyd tiller, log splitter, back hoe, etc, etc The 644,646, & 648 came out of the same factory as the Case constrution equipment. MaineDad 87 #7 Posted February 7, 2009 Stephen, There is a guy near me selling a 646 with 3 point hitch, rear hydraulics, mid mount mowing deck, and FEL for $4,000. I'm thinking about it. I'd have to sell one of my horses though... That's a great price if it runs well I think.
Rollerman 290 #8 Posted February 7, 2009 There is a guy near me selling a 646 with 3 point hitch, rear hydraulics, mid mount mowing deck, and FEL for $4,000. I'm thinking about it. I'd have to sell one of my horses though... That's a great price if it runs well I think. Mine lacks the rear hydraulics, but I did find a 3 point to put on it. I have a deck too...but can't imagine mowing with one. The FEL on these is actually part of the tractor...it's not an add on like the Ark's,KW's, or Johnsons....very heavy duty. The 646 is pretty much that same tractor as mine minus two horsepower & no power steering. Micah be sure to add pics here if you get it...you won't be dissapointed with it.

T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,610 #10 Posted February 8, 2009 Stephen, Cool - it looks like you might not get Tay off of those. You might have to give him the Sears. As you know, I like those Cases - but I had to settle for a Cub.
Jim_M 179 #11 Posted February 8, 2009 Stephen, I guess now I have enough good reasons to make the drive up there. I used to own a Case and really liked it. I don't remember what model, all I remember is 16 hp Onan twin, hydro, 48" deck, and 15" rear rims. Jim
Kelly 1,033 #12 Posted February 8, 2009 Welcome to the Case side I have a few of them for now, they are very well built machines, they look to adapt to most anything, very few draw backs, but they can be pricy to buy parts for.
