swarfeater 49 #1 Posted July 11, 2017 it took , what, almost 30 years, but the old girl finally blew her muffler apart. too rusty thin to fix. grab some 16 gauge, a little research on high performance muffler systems and viola, this happened. rectangular design actually looks pretty good, a bit modern even. sound chambered and fitted rock wool got rid of all high and most mid range frequencies and left a nice throaty rumble.(well, what throaty rumble is possible from one cylinder) the neighbor even likes it, he has one of them new yeller ones that sounds more like a chainsaw than a mower. header tape keeps the hood nice and really cuts on heat radiated back to the engine.
