glenn27 71 #26 Posted February 4, 2009 I agree with 4star too. Just hope there is not some chemical reaction between 2 different materials. Perhaps you can try a small spot first to see if it works and is compatable. Until I got my second GT-14, I did not know the muffler heat shield was missing on the first one. I am not refering to the metal shield in between the tank and engine. My second one has a shield that separates the tank and the can-muffler. But I cannot speak for the 69 model year as mine are 70's. Teddy-da-B...Could you post a picture sometime of that 'second' heat shield you are speaking of? Tks-- glenn

KyBlue 655 #29 Posted February 4, 2009 Hey TDB - Hope the wife gets outta the hospital soon, that its not anything too terribly serious that she's in there for..
Teddy da Bear 11 #30 Posted February 5, 2009 Thanks Scott.... She feels better....but facing more complications.... WHC......I don't know if the side shield is original.... But it was a great idea! You should at least have one shield between the tank and the engine.

WHC-125 4 #36 Posted February 9, 2009 I picked up a motor yesterday for it. The guy told me he had a 16 hp Kohler but when I got their I didnt see one. But he had a practically brand new 12 hp Kohler I got for $200 with a high back Wheelhorse seat w/ the bracket and springs in great shape with only one small crack. I took the head off the engine and their is virtually no carbon at all. I put the motor on the tractor but I didnt bolt it down yet because I have to find a different starter and shroud because this engine had a gas tank mounted onto it above the starter and the way it was mounted it hits the steering gear on the tractor. I am going to have to rewire it as well because this engine has a coil and point not like the original 14 hp. I will get pics soon.
WHC-125 4 #37 Posted February 10, 2009 I know the flywheel is a little rusty but I am going to restore it when the weather gets better and I get it running and driving (My 1984 Honda Odyssey FL 250 is in the backround under all the stuff waiting to get a new top end)

WHC-125 4 #41 Posted April 26, 2009 After having my GT 14 for a few months and not focussing on it I decided today I would get it running. So this morning "Bill" stopped by with his truck and trailer and we brought it up to his house(Because he likes using his own tools, even though I did everything ). And got to his house took it off the trailer and put a battery in it and his jumper box on it. Then we gave her a shot of starting fluid and she fired right up but wouldnt stay running so as of right now I have to put a different fuel pump on it and clean out the carb(again), and a little wiring work for the charging system. I want to hopefully have it ready for May 9th to go to a tractor pull and see what she can really do, because I have AG tires on the rear right now and it just wants to go pulling but I need to make wheelie bars. WHC-125 4 #42 Posted April 26, 2009 By the way guys when Jason(Rustbucket) and his father stopped by today we looked at my other GT 14 and noticed that it has one of the exhaust sheilds. Maybe now the tank wont melt anymore :omg:
