T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,613 #3 Posted June 14, 2017 If it is indeed a 704, then it's a 1964. Wheel Horse's numbering system in the early 60s was like this. The first number was the horsepower, the second number was either "0" indicating on most models, pull start (there are some exceptions), or a "5" which is for electric start, and the last number was the year. So "4" in 704 meant 1964. Starting in 1968, Wheel Horse done away with the numbering system and started using names like Commando, Charger, Raider, etc.
Racinbob 11,989 #4 Posted June 14, 2017 A 704 in on my want list. My dad's first new one was a 1960 Suburban when I was 5 years old and I have one that I restored. Then he bought a new 704. I'd like to add one to my herd.
