If you can remove the nut, do so and clean all the mating parts and checking the threads on nut and tie-rod bolt then try to reassemble.

Not sure which threaded part your talking about moving? Is it the tie rod end itself or the threaded tube. If it is the tie rod itself you must be trying to tighten with it not mounted on the tractor. If it's the threaded rod, then just put a wrench on the other end on the nut, that will stop the tube from spinning. Once you get the whole assembly together you got to make all your finale adjustments and tighten locking nuts with it on the tractor for the most part. It is a tough job with having to work in a very uncomfortable position to tighten things.

Are you talking about the spot where the rod goes thru the spindle? If so it sounds like the hole is slightly enlarged. If you were to go around the surface of the tie rod where it's supposed to mate to the spindle with a prick punch it will expand the surface and help it grab the spindle. Also pushing down on the rod, squeezing the boot and using an impact gun helps too.

If your talking about trying to get the castle nut to tighten on just the tie rod end where it goes through the spindle. The only way I have ever really have been able to get them tight is like squonk said, use a Impact gun.
