Al C. 1,428 #1 Posted June 3, 2017 Today as I swung myself into the seat getting ready to mow the lawn, I heard a crack. The kind that makes you sick to your stomach. Got off to see what happened and noticed the seat was loose. Well the pictures tell the rest of the story. Fortunately, three hours later, its as strong as ever and ready for another 35 years of seat banging.
oldlineman 1,495 #2 Posted June 3, 2017 I had to do something similar on my 1979 c-101 a few years back, she is as good as new now, realy better than new.
c-series don 9,478 #3 Posted June 4, 2017 This is a definite weak point, same thing happened to my Work Horse GT-1800. I had to do the same thing you did.

Pollack Pete 2,273 #6 Posted June 4, 2017 I've repaired many Horses the same way. When I got one of my 312-8's,the seat was bent so far back that I had to remove the uprights between the gas tank and straighted them out.I guess it didn't bother the previous owner sitting on a rocking chair while mowing. CTBT&D 77 #7 Posted June 4, 2017 I also have repaired two of these, cut out the broken area, weld in a new piece with a nut and add a gusset for strength. Craig
Al C. 1,428 #8 Posted June 4, 2017 Craig, Wow! I wish I had your tools and skills. Welding is one level beyond me. I can do nuts and bolts - epoxy once in a while - that's it. Nice job!
IthacaJeff 151 #9 Posted June 5, 2017 My 416 and 310 both have similar breaks.
