Morecowbell 23 #1 Posted May 2, 2017 (edited) My '62 Lawn Ranger 32 came with a Tecumseh HT55E. Haven't gotten into it yet but the sounds its making from hand turning are making me research alternatives. The Kohlers seem to get high marks - does anyone know if a K181 fit without having to cut anything? And are there other suggestions? Thanks in advance Clay Edited May 2, 2017 by Morecowbell
evanloock 236 #2 Posted May 2, 2017 Don't know about the details of the engine swap, but a 1962 Lawn Ranger with the original engine is worth more than one that has a replacement. The 62 Lawn Ranger is certainly a less common tractor to begin with. Just something to keep in mind.
Morecowbell 23 #3 Posted May 2, 2017 Thanks - I'll know more when I get it apart, but preparing for the worst. Looks like parts and info are very scarce on the HT55, but the Kohlers are very well supported.
evanloock 236 #4 Posted May 3, 2017 Some parts from an H or HH-60 will work. If you do decide to repower with something else, put the engine in the classifieds section.....someone will definitely want it.
Morecowbell 23 #5 Posted May 3, 2017 That's good to know. Even if I don't use it I'll probably keep it with it so it can be made original down the road.
