Dave WH 1 #1 Posted May 1, 2017 I am new to this forum, and currently have 2 wheelhorse 312-8 tractors...I keep one around to tow my garden cart and take my 3 year old for rides, it lacks a mower deck or any attachments but starts and runs well. The other one was my go to machine, it has a snow cab, blower, and mower deck and is in what I consider to be good condition with 700 hours. I need some garage room and am looking to part with the second one and I have no idea about the value of these cool tractors...I figure this place would have good advice for what I should ask for it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

And, check Craig's List in the area you have the Horse. Might find a Horse similar to the one you want to sell. Good luck.
daveoman1966 3,841 #4 Posted May 1, 2017 Better solution...build more garage for the next 2 or 3 horses you find. A man can NEV3R have just one ! ! !

I found over the years tractors without a deck usually go cheap. Sorry.
Dave WH 1 #8 Posted May 1, 2017 Thanks for the help guys! I plan on getting rid of the one with the mower deck and snowblower and cab...I got a plow for my truck and a big zero turn to mow my 5 acre lawn...I hate to see the good horse sit when someone could appreciate it...I'll post a few pictures but i didnt want to join here and seem like a guy who just joined to sell something. I cant part with my bare tractor because it was my grandfather's and it holds a special place.
Dave WH 1 #9 Posted May 1, 2017 The cool thing about this machine is that it belonged to a relative of my wife and we have the original bill of sale and owners manual for the whole thing. That tractor was pricey when it was new, must have been a "top of the line" item back then O, and pardon the mess in my garage...it's spring cleaning and new projects pop out
richmondred01 2,307 #10 Posted May 1, 2017 That's a good looking tractor. The tractor and deck alone will fetch 875-900. With the blower and cab take no less then 1500. dont let these guys low ball you.
Amcwheel85 2,059 #11 Posted May 2, 2017 Idk about low balling there guy but usually the tractor and deck would bring $400-$700. Seems like you prices are for maybe 400 series tractors. Bought a 312-8 in good shape ready to mow for $500 last year.

ericj 1,579 #14 Posted May 2, 2017 in my area there are quite a few 312-8 on c/l in the 500.00 and up range. Most have been advertised for a while now. While a 312 will do all of the work you need done people think they need the bigger horse power tractors like they are selling in the stores now.So the lowly 10, 12, and sometimes even the 14 hp people don't seem to want anymore. So in my humble opinion, that and a dollar might buy you a cup of coffee, it depends on how bad you want to see it go and need the room. that is a very nice set up and all looks in good condition which should command good money, but unfortunately not necessarily. If you are looking to get rid of it fast you need to make the price low enough for someone else to think they are getting a good deal. you can ask top dollar but then expect to sit on it for awhile till the right buyer comes along. In my area there are a of wheel horse tractors on c/l that are not selling, even some cheap parts tractor, your area maybe different though, hopefully for you. I've said this many times before we as collectors can't pay top dollar for a tractor becuase sooner or later we find another must have tractor and something may have to go to make room for the new one. the only exception might be a bucket list tractor, and generally a 312 is not on that list. good luck eric j
farmer 1,078 #15 Posted May 2, 2017 (edited) I would suggest you keep the mowing deck to go with the tractor you keep as backup for your zero, and hold the other one till Autumn. It's a snow machine so it's out of season to sell for best price now. Sounds like you might have a youngster who may want to help one day. SPINJIM 1,986 #16 Posted May 3, 2017 Good advice from FARMER. It's the wrong time of year to sell a snow thrower and a cab, even in upstate NY. You'll get a good price for it next fall with just the snowblower and cab, and keep the mower deck for your other Horse. It looks like it's in good shape, so should get $1200 to 1400 in the fall. ohiofarmer 3,379 #17 Posted May 3, 2017 After having experience with the Onan engines on the 400 series and 500 series, a 300 series with a Kohler is what I would prefer over what I have from just looking at reliability. Maybe the grass is always greener when it comes to the tractor that you don't have yet, but things like "grass mileage" or how much fuel per acre the tractor uses to mow your yard also enter into the equation. I own older and newer ones, and the older ones just keep going and going
