Chris S. 0 #1 Posted May 1, 2017 Could someone explain to me how the clutch assembly works to engage the mower blades? My blades spin constantly and the only way to stop them is to shut the tractor off. On part 16 I'm missing the brake pad. Part 14 I think is missing all together. If someone could explain how this assembly works it will help me better understand what is broken/missing. Also any insight on replacement parts would be great. This is my first horse. Thanks alot
daveoman1966 3,841 #2 Posted May 1, 2017 #14 is a 'plunger' that moves the convex shaped PTO bell up to engage / disengage the engine concave pulley to disengage the blades. Part 16 is a fulcrum point that moves # 14 up / down. Thi9s is REALLY TUFF to explain is isn't a very good design, but I have part 14 ifd you need it... maybe a few other partgs too. email me directly at: daveoman@windstream.net
Chris S. 0 #3 Posted May 1, 2017 Thanks for the reply and the part offer. I may be taking you up on that. Which way does the pully need to move to stop the blades. I've turned the pully by hand and everything is spinning together up to the bottom of the motor. Does the mower belt pully free spin when disengaged and should I be able to move it up and down by hand? I'm fearful that everything is seized together right now
daveoman1966 3,841 #4 Posted May 1, 2017 Without haveing this in hand, it is almost impossible to show how it works. Try to soak up these pics....best I can do. That fulcrum lever rocks back / forth and moves the convex pulley up / down to engage the cocave pulley that is bolted to the engine crankshaft.
