Ian928 46 #1 Posted January 26, 2009 I am just wondering about the Twin Automatic designation on our D-200. Linen Beige told me in another thread that the name Twin comes from the two-cylinder engine. But I belive all D-series tractors had two-cylinder engines? I also think I have seen D-200's that only say Automatic I am guessing this is just a matter of production date, but another possibilty could be that not all D-series tractors came from the factory with the same equipment? I have read enough posts by Linen Beige to belive that he is right, but I am just curious if there may be more to it... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
fritz 1 #2 Posted January 26, 2009 hey i believe there was a d160 with a single cylinder 16 hp kohler. i cant remember the year. but i am pretty sure there is that d160 out there. i think it was the year 1974. and in 1975 i believe they went with the twin onan?? but i do not know for sure. so i hope im right. but if im not any one feel free to correct me. please devin Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I was under the impression that all had Kohler twins, but that the output was different? Ian928 46 #5 Posted January 26, 2009 AHA! And I can see that there is also pictures of a 1974 D-200 with Twin-automatic stickers. Does this mean only 74-models D-200 had Twin Automatic stickers? It seems likely that they changed the sticker after all the D's became Twins. In that case, our tractor is older that we thought, the PO told us it was a '77. Ian928 46 #7 Posted January 27, 2009 Thank you, here are the numbers: 81-20KS01 04684 83440 The tag has been painted over and then rubbed with coarse sandpaper so maybe some of these numbers are wrong. The two fours in 83440 are ovelapping, so it may be a mistake and the real number should be 8340.
