Beano 0 #1 Posted January 25, 2009 Hello all, I'm a new member. My name is James and i live in the UK (Eastbourne). My father has restored a couple of wheelhorse's and now i have the next project... The good bit is that it was free, one owner from new and came with two good decks and one for spares. The bad bit is the engine.... the cylinder head was already removed and the piston doesn't move when crank rotated. I have started the restoration and so far apart from a little bit of corrosion and plenty of dirt it doesn't look too bad. James

jusjeepn 59 #3 Posted January 25, 2009  Looks like a great first project! sounds like you have a broken rod or crankshaft though. Easy enough to fix, just costly for the machine work. Good luck with this project!

BPjunk 184 #15 Posted January 26, 2009 James, If you can could you find out more about the original owner, what dealer they bought the Wheel Horse from, why it was purchased and what they thought of the Wheel Horse???? It would be interesting to learn more about the Wheel Horses from the UK. Do you go to any of the caravans, events or shows involving old tractors? Wild Bill in Richmond, Va. Beano 0 #20 Posted January 27, 2009 Thanks for the warm welcome. The project is going well, i've primed the first few bits. I keep looking at the engine but thats as far as it's got!! Just hope it doesn't end up too expensive. There is a chance i may get the original paperwork, depends if she can find it. James

Duff 206 #23 Posted January 28, 2009 One for the dog lovers. Anything with an engine and she will be on/in it. (even if the conrod is broken) Now that's my kind of pup! I've got a Golden retriever who, if it has a motor, especially if it's running, has to check it out up close and personal! I have to be real careful around him when I'm mowing......
