haeffnkr 2 #1 Posted January 25, 2009 Hello, Got my knew to me c160 (thanks Steve!) up an running good. I finally got around to getting my blade mounted up on this thing, the real reason I bought it was to blade my oversized drive way. So drag out my never mounted up blade and I got the rear axle shaft to go right in to the rear attachment thing. I cut some chain and got it between the front blade attachment point and the hydro lift linkage.....all good so far!! Surely this will not be this easy..... Nope ! When the blade is tilted to the left I believe it was, the side to side handle hits on the foot rest. When the blade is straight and to the right, I can easily adjust the blade and it all clears, just when you go to the left, it hits the foot rest. I can strain and pull the handle to the inside of the tab and get the blade to the left and get it all locked in, but there is some torq on the everything, but it would work. IF I cut off the tab on the foot rest it will clear, that 2"x2" tab on the foot rest. So is this the wrong blade for my C-160? tag info for the blade is - 42BC01- 3614 next line is 6202 thanks guys Kevin
haeffnkr 2 #2 Posted January 25, 2009 I just found the blade on the toro sight...so it is a 1980 model 42" blade. So this is a blade is newer than my tractor (1976) .... I guess something changed?
MaineDad 87 #3 Posted January 25, 2009 You may need the old style straight bar instead of that one. Maybe someone has a picture.
Sparky-(Admin) 23,145 #4 Posted January 25, 2009 Your angle lever is on backwards. After you flip it you'll need to move the squeeze lever as well. I went to the TORO site and used 06-42BC02 as a blade # and it shows the angle lever and how it mounts. Mike......
KyBlue 655 #5 Posted January 25, 2009 Thanks for the # Mike - Ya helped me locate the parts I need too! Im amazed at what all Toro still produces!
haeffnkr 2 #6 Posted January 25, 2009 Wow my face is red! It shows the position of the handle flipped to my orientation in the 42bc01 diagram also, I did not look close enough...doh! I am not sure if it will clear the hood if I flip it though. It appears that my handle is not straight now though, so I guess I might have to bend it back out to clear or be more like stock. thanks for the help! haeffnkr 2 #7 Posted January 25, 2009 WOOOOHOOOOO They have been calling this snow for a few days now. This will be the first measurable snow in the StL area this season. Tuesday: Snow and sleet likely in the metro area with areas south seeing more sleet and some freezing rain. Significant ice accumulations are possible across the southern postion of the viewing area. Highs in the mid 20s. Wintery mix will diminish Tuesday evening. Preliminary indications are for three to five inches of snow and some sleet in the metro area by late Tuesday. Guess I better get that handle flipped today! I guess next I will need new ag tires and whatever else I can think of. Kevin
Teddy da Bear 11 #8 Posted January 25, 2009 Kevin....sound like you would make a great weatherman! The same condition exists with my B-100 and blade. My angling lever is absolutely straight and hits the footrest. I was thinking of bending it out around the footrest, but wouldn't that put a kink in the wire for the pin release? TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #9 Posted January 25, 2009 @ Kevin: Did you try sliding the rear axle mount to the left a little? It just might give you enough clearance at the footrest. If not, you can always slide the footrest out until you're done plowing, then put it back when you're done. It also looks like the angle lever is tweaked pretty good - don't be afraid to give it a bend or twist to get it where it needs to be. (the lock release rods are pretty forgiving, as long as they don't end up being too short)

Take care and hope you don't get ICE>>>> :a ngry:
haeffnkr 2 #11 Posted January 27, 2009 Well.....you can not see it very well in the pics but, if you look close you will see where I guess the PO cut off and bent and welded the handle on. It has a big curve in the top of it now. You can see where the handle was cut, lapped over and welded back together in the close up pic. I guess these were one piece orginally? So when I tried to flip it around the handle now hit the PTO pulley, because of the bend. So I was in a hurry, it is snowing now, so I put it back together and I just loosened up the pivot bolt and that was just enough for me to get the handle past the tip of the foot rest with out to much cussing. That will work until I can get it back off and make up a new handle at Dad's house (he has a torch and bigger hammers a monster sized vise and a bigger better welder ). I did not get a chance to move the rear bracket over yet. Not much snow yet, maybe 1.5 inches at the most, but a test run was successful. Still calling for 3-6 before it is all over. Should be fun if I can get traction. thanks for the help, Kevin
noncritical 5 #12 Posted January 27, 2009 im having the same problem with the plow i picked up saturday im thinking its for an older model without the footrests mine also hits the drive pully on the rear but the price was right even if i dont use it good luck
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,602 #13 Posted January 27, 2009 Kevin, So how much snow did you get up there? Down here, "south of the metro area" we got mostly sleet so far. About two to threes inches of it, with some snow mixed in. Played hookie from work - they are just getting around to clearing my road.
WheelHorse_of_course 99 #14 Posted January 27, 2009 Don't panic! (anyone here a "Dad;s Army fan?) I plowed for a whole winter without the lever. I just had to get off to change the angle (that triangular piece is easy to pull up and then kick the blade with your foot). The ultimate fix was to put the plow on my 854!
