36" Double D Spindles - HELP

Recommended Posts

Don in Mystic

New to this forum. Own a 74 C100 with 36 deck 5-0621. Purchased set of blade spindles with bearings. Appears they were replaced before as small end of cast flange they go into/against is broken off. Apparently despite that bearings stayed put (Ive owned the tractor 20 years). My question is when I press in the new ones where should they be in relation to the big end of the casting? Flush? stick up? how much?. I did not witness mark them but presume they are all the same. Thanks for any advice. I know how to hold a wrench but first time with these.

Also, My deck uses double D style blades with 3 holes. Looking to find one blade washer. Kind of a Bellville washer with OD notched for alignment pins. Sources? Thanks

Note the 'ring' mark on the spindle bearing...this has to be on the UP side of the casting.  Press it in until about 1/8" protrudes above the flat face of the housing.  see pics.

Dave, thanks for the good advice and docs. I pressed them in this a.m. per your specs. Last night I found a supplier for the dome washer so that is on the way. Might even be ready once the grass starts growing.....
