Michael Bullington 5 #1 Posted January 22, 2009 hey guys I got an email from a friend on a raider 12 that im going to look at tomorrow!!  heres what the email stated: This wheelhorse garden tractor was stored on my back porch for 15 years with the attachments, a sickle mower, rototiller, 12" breaker plow, cultivator plows, dozer blade, no mower deck. Ready to cherry out and show. All attachments worked well and the motor did when I parked it. I think change out elect. and carb and the old cast iron kohler will purr again. You can't killem. what do you think? What some things I should look out for? Dont tell Henry he might beat me there
fritz 1 #2 Posted January 22, 2009 hey mister do you know what year it is?? i dont know what much to look for or anything. thank you devin
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #3 Posted January 22, 2009 What some things I should look out for? Sounds to me like all you'll need to look for is the money to buy it, and a mower deck once you get it! I actually like the '68/'69 models better, but they're all good hard-working tractors! As far as Henry finding out goes..... you might have just let the Horse outta the bag!
WheelHorse_of_course 99 #4 Posted January 22, 2009 I agree with TT - look for the money before you go. Anything short of $1000 would probably be a good deal even if the engine were shot.
Michael Bullington 5 #5 Posted January 23, 2009 It is definately a 68 or 69 model tractor,,,he said all the attachments was WH ...I just dont know how rusty this stuff Is..or what parts may or may not be missing...Im not familiar with some of the attachments becacause Ive not had any, but guess I'll see soon...By the way I got excited...I going sat moring to check it all out...and the price is way short of a thousand. ..Ill get some pics saturday For a Good Raider 12 (one of my favorites)

MaineDad 87 #7 Posted January 24, 2009 Looks rough, but fixable. What is the green stuff on the seat fenders?
Sparky-(Admin) 23,147 #8 Posted January 24, 2009 Looks rough, but fixable. What is the green stuff on the seat fenders? I'm thinkin its moss from sitting. Mike........
Duff 206 #9 Posted January 24, 2009 Looks rough, but fixable. What is the green stuff on the seat fenders? I'll make an educated guess it's a form of moss if the rig has been sitting in the shade in a damp environment for a long time....... Not the fluffy stuff we normally associate with the woods or shady lawns, but a relative. I've actually seen this condition before. Moss generally hates iron, but it doesn't seem to have a problem forming on a painted surface. Duff EDIT: Mike beat me to it!
Michael Bullington 5 #10 Posted January 24, 2009 yes you hit it on the nose..damp area and green moss...pretty common around here to get on stuff that sits for a long period of time. It should clean right off with some good cleaner! By the way the directions I got are sending me out deep in the country...small communities and lots of woods! Should be a journey
rwilson 128 #11 Posted January 24, 2009 Sounds like a good find to me. Price seems darn good, way under 1000. so like always as soon as you get home.

Michael Bullington 5 #14 Posted January 24, 2009 okay guys made it home...I do better pictures later, but here is the big ole pile of stuff got all this stuff too I didnt bring home the tiller...I didnt take enough money..LOL I had wishfull thinking to buy it all cheaper...But I dont know if I will go back and get it or not. are these tillers rare...lts the rear tiller that runs on the belt (not a tiller with engine)...he wants 100 for the tiller ..what do yall think?
noncritical 5 #15 Posted January 24, 2009 looks in pretty good shape nice find as for the tiller i would buy it and if ya want to part with the sickle bar let me know
TJ 184 #16 Posted January 24, 2009 Nice buy. I would go for the tiller too.
linen beige 15 #17 Posted January 24, 2009 Ya didn't have to do no pig squeelin' didja? The tiller should be worth $100 if it's in working shape. Especially if you get the mid mount idler pulleys that go along with it.
Michael Bullington 5 #18 Posted January 24, 2009 jim, I will get some pictures but there are some pulleys on a bracket on the rear on the tractor...are these the ones you mean? how you ever seen tire chains like this? also i think these cultivators are missing the mid section
KyBlue 655 #19 Posted January 24, 2009 There is a Set of pullies mounted eh, Midway on the tractor. Its to sling the belt low enough to get it below the Axle. For 100 bucks...go back and get it. Need 100 bucks? I'll buy it, even pay ya some Xtra for the time and hassle! The pullies...Should be something like this...these Clip into the Mid tach-a-matic, so yours will mount different...but it gives you a idea.
jusjeepn 59 #20 Posted January 24, 2009 Yes you are missing the mid mount cultivator. Look at TT tricycle and you'll see the full set. The tillers around here generally bring around $50 to $75 . I bought both of mine for $50 each but the mule drive also cost me $50 so if he has it it's definatly worth it! The tire chains are automotive temporary chains. their not meant to be left on only to get you out of a jamb. Don't know what you give for it all but a pretty nice find nether the less. If your wanting to part with the cultivator, I'd be interested! Your sickle bar mower, what size is it? Model #? If this is a 42" it will not fit this tractor without modification. If its the 50" it should fit just fine! Get better pics! Pat I do see the mid pulley for the tiller sticking up between your belt guard and the floor board. You have the frame mounted pulleys for the 7-1211 tiller. Your missing the extra belt guard that was part of the accessory kit. This is a pretty rare set up and actually not the best set up. It uses 2 belt instead of one to drive the tiller and tends to slip and throw belts. The single belt setup works much better
Kelly 1,033 #21 Posted January 24, 2009 Nice score, I've been looking for a sickle bar for a couple of years all are out of my price range the cultivator can be used with just the rear, and for the tiller it is probably the old style, and uses diff. pulley set up to run it not sure what it looks like, I'm sure someone has a pic, the old tillers don't bring as much money as the newer ones, I'm not sure what you paid but I see $500-$600 worth of stuff you picked up, maybe a little more if the tractor runs good, nice find
Kelly 1,033 #22 Posted January 24, 2009 I think looking at the pic's again the pulleys you need are at least in part on the tractor to run the tiller
