Warning Light on 1057

Recommended Posts

I haven't seen the warning light light up on my 1057. Should it light up when the tractor is being started? I'm just wondering if it is like the brake warning light in the old Ford trucks, were it only comes on if there is trouble. So you really don't ever want to see it light up.

I'm not positive, but the light on my 1267 comes on when I turn the key but goes out when the traxtors running. I'm thinking if that light stays on, somethings wrong with the charging system.

The generator light should come on when the ignition switch is turned to the "run" position. (with engine not running)

There is also a possibility that it will come on dim when the engine is running at idle.

If you have yet to see it lit, check the bulb. I use a #53 bulb in mine.

John,

Inside the regulator when the current is turned on a ground is made for the GEN light and as soon as the systems starts to charge the ground is disconnected and the light will go out.

Check your wiring for loose terminals and connections and you can use a 12 volt test light at the GEN light to see if current is getting to the socket.

Thanks bill. I'm hoping to get some time in the garage with the tractor today.

I was out messing with the 1057 and took a look at the light. The problem?... there was no bulb! <_< I took a look in my stash and came up with an 1895 that was a perfect fit. Turned key and nothin'. So I got a small piece of Scotch Bright and twisted it in the socket a few times, reinstalled bulb, success!!

I love easy fixes. The bigest part of the whole job was removing the gas tank to reinstall the socket into the lens.

Glad to hear you got it working again, John.

Did you try taking the 4 screws out of the dash panel? Sometimes you can get enough slack in the cables/wiring to pull the dash panel back enough to access the light. (be careful with those old wires though - you don't want to crack the insulation)

I had some time with the tractor today. I'm glad you told me the light might come on dimly when at idle. I would have thought there was a problem with the generator. Thanks for the info TT!!
