dcrage 621 #2 Posted January 31, 2017 (edited) Not an expert, BUT I know from reading this forum for years that the Series 2 is considered to be an excellent engine. The Series 2 internal pressurized oil lubrication was a needed and successful upgrade of the Series 1 Kohler 17 HP engine for use on garden tractors. ol550 829 #3 Posted January 31, 2017 Both K17 engines are basically the same and use the same oil pump. Only main difference is the the rod bearings are pressure lubricated on the series 2.
