The starter on one of my H60s engages fine but squeals like crazy! What would cause that?

In side the recoil unit there is a little tin cup held by a short phillips head screw that covers the engagement dog.  This can shift off center over time and rub against the flywheel cup.

Electric. It does it with the starter off the motor

Probably dry or worn bushings on the shaft. Is there up and down play on the gear end?

Yup, she's worn. Just a matter of time before it quits without a rebuild.
