bob54 12 #1 Posted January 25, 2017 I took the came out of a H55D and put it into an H60, I am getting oil in the combustion chamber by way of the intake valve. I have checked the cam/crank timing 3 times. I pulled the valves and the intake has minor pitting but nothing bad. (I am going to grind and lap the valves) My question is is the H55D cam the same as an H60. H60 75376J H55D 2113 Thanks
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,500 #2 Posted January 25, 2017 Part numbers are different https://www.partstree.com/parts/tecumseh/engines-horizontal-4-cycle-engine/h60-75376j-tecumseh-4-cycle-horizontal-engine/ Garry
bob54 12 #3 Posted January 25, 2017 I bet the timing is different then Bummer!
Terry M-(Moderator) 2,238 #4 Posted January 25, 2017 What happened to the Cam in the H60?
bob54 12 #5 Posted January 25, 2017 (edited) The H60 came off a snow blower and had the pulley on the end of the cam. The end of the cam broke off so I put a cam from a H55D in it, and changed the sump cover Edited January 25, 2017 by bob54
illinilefttackle 399 #6 Posted January 25, 2017 Oil coming by the intake valve Guide?
Terry M-(Moderator) 2,238 #7 Posted January 25, 2017 Bob, Are you able to take a pic of the old broken Cam? It's possible I may have one that you could have...but I'd have to check first. Also , are you thinking the timing issue is pushing oil into the combustion chamber by pressurizing the crank case ? Or could the valve guide be worn too much? bob54 12 #8 Posted January 26, 2017 The valve guide seems good, very little play with the valve. I am thinking the intake valve is't closing fast enough and the piston is sucking oil in past it on the down stroke. It tried to start, but would fire once then die,
bob54 12 #9 Posted January 26, 2017 Thanks Terry but I pitched the old one
bob54 12 #10 Posted January 31, 2017 Well I finally figured it out. I never checked the timing with a dial indicator and set the piston 0.080 BTC. When I finally did I found that I used the wrong points cam and the points were no where near opening at the correct time. So I put the correct points cam in it. along with a new cam and I think that will solve my problems. Waiting for new points to arrive, seems I have a poltergeist who broke the plastic arm on the points.
