TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #2 Posted January 14, 2009 Nope - not original. Just don't take a notion to paint the red parts green. (I'm only going by your user name! )

Michael Bullington 5 #4 Posted January 14, 2009 Im guessing what happened is that wheel horse out pulled a deere somewhere in its lifetime and the John Deere Lost the Bet! Enjoy the RJ
linen beige 15 #5 Posted January 14, 2009 By "yellow" do you mean as in JD or as in faded off white? The original color was Ivory/Linen Beige. It can look like a light shade of yellow when aged or thinly covering a rusted surface.
johndeeredude1 0 #6 Posted January 14, 2009 Good idea on the picture but no camera and have not learned that skill yet.The paint is not faded and looks like a Speedex Yellow.I have also seen two other tractors like this over the past year on Ebay.

BPjunk 184 #8 Posted January 14, 2009 This is not the first time this question has come up and I have also seen a 1958 RJ-58 with a yellow spoked steering wheel. My 1965 model 655 does have dark red paint and "sorta" yellowish painted wheel rims. I have always considered this question the UFO and Lock Ness Monster question as I have no answer for it. Maybe poor production runs on the pigments used to color the paint????? Post pictures when you can. Wild Bill in Richmond, Va.
Duff 206 #9 Posted January 15, 2009 Always a chance a PO on any of these machines repainted the wheels for whatever reason. Could just have been a matter of taste somewhere along the way. We may never know. As a for instance, on my 312-8 rebuilds my "signature" touch is gloss black wheels. Just MHO.... Duff
