Nope - not original.

Just don't take a notion to paint the red parts green.

Im guessing what happened is that wheel horse out pulled a deere somewhere in its lifetime and the John Deere Lost the Bet!

linen beige

By "yellow" do you mean as in JD or as in faded off white? The original color was Ivory/Linen Beige. It can look like a light shade of yellow when aged or thinly covering a rusted surface.

Good idea on the picture but no camera and have not learned that skill yet.The paint is not faded and looks like a Speedex Yellow.I have also seen two other tractors like this over the past year on Ebay.

This is not the first time this question has come up and I have also seen a 1958 RJ-58 with a yellow spoked steering wheel.

My 1965 model 655 does have dark red paint and "sorta" yellowish painted wheel rims. I have always considered this question the UFO and Lock Ness Monster question as I have no answer for it. Maybe poor production runs on the pigments used to color the paint?????:thumbs:

Post pictures when you can.

Always a chance a PO on any of these machines repainted the wheels for whatever reason. Could just have been a matter of taste somewhere along the way. We may never know. As a for instance, on my 312-8 rebuilds my "signature" touch is gloss black wheels. Just MHO....
