rdeanrj58 68 #1 Posted January 2, 2017 I'm trying to wire a B-80. I would like to use a new ignition switch. It has 4 terminals. Bat. Ign. Acc. Solenoid. Which terminal should the rectifier wire go to or will this switch even work? Thanks
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,499 #2 Posted January 2, 2017 Try hooking it to the I terminal. If you look at the original switch the R and I are both connected in the start and run positions. If it is too much for it one could always add a relay to handle the charge current which would extend the life of the switch. Send the charge current straight to the battery. rdeanrj58 68 #3 Posted January 2, 2017 Ok. Is the charge current coming from the rectifier? If so won't it go thru the ignition too?
pfrederi 18,696 #4 Posted January 2, 2017 It is all equalized by the ignition switch passing current to the battery, accessories and ignition in the run position. When running the voltage is about 14, the ignition is used to the higher voltage.
