jerrell 1 #1 Posted January 12, 2009 :whistle: or i just got an 8 speed off a (i think a 1142 ) it has 1 inch axel, and plan to put it on the GT1800, wanted the difference in speeds to garden with, does any one see a problem with that tranny???? going to use 20 hp engine... going to have to make a raid out of state to pick it up.. it does not have the hubs ...are they expensive??? paid less than 70.00 is that ok??? You will certainly get differing opinions on the rear being 4 pinions and 1" axles, but I have a GT 1600, and it has survived 24 years with that rear end. I guess it depends on how hard you are going to use it, but I wouldn't be afraid of it. WH overbuilt just about everything. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
